The car is a 93 240sx with a 2JZ swap. Heres the deal. The power steering only turns on when I give the car a little gas...so no power steering at idle but if i rev it pretty much anything about 2k rpm the power steering works beautifully. When I'm on it, and RPM's go upwards to 7000rpm the power steering will cut off and wont work for about 10 minutes and then it will come back on. Does it just need to be replaced? has anyone seen/heard of this before?

Sounds like symptoms of a loose belt? or maybe oil on the belt causing it to slip.

Quoted for truth.

could be the bearing in the pully going bad and siezing up. check the belt like they said then pull it off if that doesn't fix it and spin the pulley with nothing on it. if it makes a crunchy kinda noise its time for a new pump or bearing if it's replaceable.

hmm i'll try that. I'm pretty sure there's no oil on it causing it to slip, it's fine until I redline it... even if i double clutch aslong as it doesn't get to 7k. Thanks for the tips guys
