I have been working on this sr20det for quite awhile now prob going on three years. Ive worked on a lot of turbo cars and other cars in general as a tech. Ive been stumped though on this car, I cant get it to run right.
Heres the specs no judging plase this is how i got the engine.
Redtop Sr20det
t3/to4e ebay junk turbo but works
Log Manifold
44mm wastegate
Stock Injectors for now
FMIC
2inch hot side pipes
2.5 Cold side pipes
No emissions on it
I have taken the valve cover off and timed the cams about 10 times now and im pretty sure its on but... yeah
New CAS
New Ignitor
The timing wont stay at 15 degrees and the closer I get it to that on the crank pulley the shittier it runs
Watch the videos I have posted here and please let me know what you think
Thanks

I've been having the same issue. Hopefully someone can help us here because I'm stumped on this as well.
You need to check timing with tps disconnected and just to make sure you are reading right signal, you need to remove coil from valve cover and run spark plug wire from it so you can attach timing light on actual plug wire.(you probably done it already)
Next is open CAS and make sure your disk is not bent or cracked and spin it to see if it has constant drag on shaft.
And there is a major problem with the car already........MAF is too close to turbo..it needs at least 10inch away from turbo with little bend in it. Your maf signal is not accurate when it's that close to turbo.
it needs to be in timing mode.
also check the ECU for codes.

What is the timing mode?
I will work on getting the MAF away from the turbo.

Go into NDS
go into active tests
go into lock into timing mode
and then reset the timing via gun
ALSO
That MAF hooked up directly the turbo is horrible....the turbo causes all sorts of turbulance that disrupts the maf, and secondly, you should really recirc the BOV as well, to help it out.
In the same regard, why do you even THINK running stock injectors/maf/ecu is a good idea with yoursetup??

Codyace thank you for the tip on the timing mode, I don't think its a good idea either I'm just trying to get it to run on its own power. I know the injectors are junk they will be replaced asap and as for the ecu I have a enthalpy tune that will be going in soon. I was thinking maybe a safc to do any other little adjustments.

The software your using there, is that something I can buy or do I need a lot more than what I'm thinking.
With codyace telling the instructions, did you notice it locked in? I can't get mine to lock in no matter what I do.
Codyace, could my ecu be causing my timing not to lock in? I did the process from the fsm....

Don't even waste time with the SAFC...it's certainly a tool...but with the tunes available these days, you can't really beat the JWT or Enthalpy options

YOu'll need Nissan Data Scan, and a BLazt cable. You'll also need to ensure your consult plug is wired in or up as well (which you can also add after the fact, if you have the pinout for your ECU)
For the software and cable: blaZt - Infiniti, Nissan software scan tool, data cable, reset check engine light (http://blazt.biz/)

Some cars even with NDS don't lock into timing mode unless you have all of the right options selected for the gauge display...it often takes some trial/error to make that work.
IN regard to using the FSM way to get it into timing mode...well, it's about nearly impossible(I think I've only gotten it to work like 3 times in my life). What I like to do however is simply get the car up to temp..idle it...and then put at iming gun on the crank. Have your buddy rev the engine to like 4500 rpm(or you rev it yourself)and let off...you'll watch the timing mark jump all over the place, and then for a second (as it's slowing the revs back down) you'll see the timing 'lock' into place...that is where your timing is set. From there make any adjustments you need.
