SPEAKERS MAKE NOISE!

Allright.. whats the deal...

i installed a kicker 4 channel amp, ran 8 guage wiring to it.. etc.. etc.. it's running all my speakers inside my car.. now my speakers whine with my engine!

how good of quality rca did you use? did you put the power next to the rca's?
thats all i can think of

more than likely your ground is too long from your amp.  Shouldn't be more than about 8in.  Grounds are notorious for picking up engine noise.  The longer they are the more likely it will happen

and i used sweet fosgate rca shit.. soo expensive.. so it must be the ground, also, i ran the power down the other side of the car so that can't be the problem.

My roommate also said that The ground should be at least 12in or so from the Power cable.  He also said the ground shouldn't matter.. (doh..  opps)  He said if you have noise it should be from RCA's  even nice cables sometimes get it.

He said there are filters you can buy for the RCA's.  He also suggested that it may be your amp.

Hey man,
    The ground wire can definatley make a difference in the noise in a system.  Make sure that where you have grounded has been filed so it goes to bare metal (no painted or otherwise finished surfaces..)  RCA cables are generally the last things in a system that cause noise, so if you bought decent ones you're fine.  Unless they are directional... and hooked up backwards.. that isn't really the best way to go.  I work in the audio industry, so I'm somewhat experinced in cleaning up noise problems.  Since it's a quality (or at least not shitty) you can bet it's probably in the ground... shorten it up and make sure it's clean where you screw it in!  ( A good  thing to do in all aspects of life )

One other thing that will cause noise is if you ran the power wire to your amp alongside your RCA cables. &nbsp;It'll attract the + voltage. &nbsp;It's best to have them on opposite sides of the car. &nbsp;

Sometimes the amp isnt compatable with the speakers/headunit which causes a huming/buzzing sound. I had the same problem with my Rockford amp &amp; Clarion speakers. Just get a noise filter, put it btwn the RCAs and the amp-problem fixed.
