I picked up a t3 off a z31 and i want to use it to go ka-t. im searched around a lot and found a bunch of info, but i cant seem to find anyone thats tried to modify or swap compressor housings.

The z31 t3 looses its effeciency at 14psi. I read around and im finding that the t3 is a .60ar compressor and a .63ar turbine (stage 1 garrett). my buddy has a mutt t28 (t25 and t28 hybrid dealie) that has a .60 trim compressor too but has a much bigger housing. he told me they tend to fall off around 22psi.

what we were wondering was if there was a way too possibly swap a t28 cover like his onto my t3 to promote flow and possibly wake the turbo up a bunch.

at the moment im not looking to go nuts and make it super fast. i want to try and ease into it and start from the bottom and work my way up to where i feel is best for me. but i dont want to end up putting a whole bunch of time into getting a z31 t3 in a going just to pull it off to try and frankenstein it later.

Someone was saying the only real factor would be the actual compressor diameter. i read that it was 51.4mm for the t3. so if thats the same then a t28 housing with a 51.4mm compressor would work?

if you change just the cover, you won't see much improvement. you would have to clip the turbine wheel and port the wastegate. Not sure how big the wastegate is on there but if its really small that mite be why it falls off at higher psi
