i've got a motor and tranny, harness and everything out of a 95 s14. my motors about to blow in the 97 so i plan on swapping. what i wanted to know before i try to swap out manifolds and everything, what all do i have to do to put the 95 motor in and work with the obdii wiring. i know obviously the wiring harness, but do i have to swap the intake manifold or the distributor or anything else? any help would be really appreciated. thanks.

lol....
its the same shit as long as the 95 isnt obd1

the 95 is obd1. im pretty sure on the intake manifold and the distributor, but im trying to figure out if i could just swap sensors onto the 95 manifold and not have to mess with swapping them. as far the distributor, im not sure if i need to swap these.

Ill help you!!! just FYI im not a mechanic but I did do this swap myself. I know its confusing right now because when you try to search you find alot of bull shit information....but here you go

leave the distributor its fine...i did the opposite of you i went from a 95(obd1) >96(obd2)

I left mine obd1. I just plugged up the sensors on the intake manifold, swapped the tps, cts and fired right up.

but in your case just swap the intake manifolds if you want to stay obd2. The 97 intake manifold has all those extra sensors/ vaccume ports on it that the obd1 manifold doesnt have. If you dont want to swap intake manifolds then you have to install the obd1 harness + ecu

pm me if you need any more info

just swap manifolds all the sensors and vacum lines stay on it when you take the mani off the only difference is in the manifold. put your 97 intake manifold on your 95 block and you are good to go easy easy easy. i put a 98 motor into my 95 its by far the easyest way since the 96-98 have way more vacum lines you just dont want to bother with it. dont mess with the vacum lines and the sensors its easyer just to take the whole thing off. you seem like a noob if you mess whith the lines you are gonna be back asking where each one goes... anoing. and aslong as you go and make questions that someone else probably made you are going to get flamed just an FYI. some of these guys have been members for a very long time and have answered the same question over and over and it gets old quick so try and do you reaserch first cause veteran members on most forums are tired of the same simple questions. this goes for prety much any kind of swap KA-to KA, Ka-SR, KA- LS, KA-VQ someone has more than likely done the swap so just keep searching. just some advise. also get some local buddies to help out, if they know you personaly they are more likely not to flame you.

yeah i understand that, and i did search, like the other guy said, when you search there's a bunch of bullshit stuff and no answers as far as i found, and yeah i know about getting flamed. i've been lurking on here for a few years. i understand its not a complicated swap. if i wanted to just put the motor in there with the obd1 harness would it hook up to everything correctly or would i have to swap the dash harness also? because i eventually plan to go ka-t, so i'll have to get a jumper harness to get rid of tuning problems. so if i could just use the obd1 harness without much work i'd rather go that route. i appreciate the help.

Swap the intake manifold. Everything else is the exact same. Use the OBD-II harness, the older 1995 harness will plug in but need repinning will be required.

would it need repinned even if i used a 95 ecu?

would it need repinned even if i used a 95 ecu?

Why would you want to use the 1995 KA ecu anyways when you can just use your 1997 KA ecu?

95 block, 97 intake mani, 97 upper wire harness, 97 ecu.

Project RDM = Russ ?? is the MASTER when it comes to 240 stuff. He's worked on enough of them that he knows his stuff....Don't believe me?? Just use the SEARCH function here & look up his posts...

Anyhow, getting back to the post....when Nissan switched over the S13 production line to the S14, (somewhere around March 1994 - my buddy has a S14 with a March 94 production date, I had an April 94 production date...till I sold it), the EARLY model year S14's were made to be 1996 OBDII compliant OBDII - On-Board Diagnostic's System - Does My Car Have OBD-II? The Connector and Communications. (http://www.obdii.com/connector.html).

From what I can recall, (I don't have my S14 anymore), the early 94/95 production cars had a THREE WIRE O2 sensor along with a carbon canister for emissions, (and maybe a few more stuff I can't recall). Somewhere around July 1995, Nissan switched the O2 sensor and carbon canister to a FOUR wire O2 sensor & a whole different gas vapor/emissions system for the gas tank totally replacing the carbon canister. Don't believe me?? Go to Nissan Parts, NISMO and Nissan Accessories - Courtesyparts.com (http://www.CourtesyParts.com) & look up 95 Nissan 240sx Oxygen sensor. They've got three versions: a). 02/94-10/94, b). 10-94-07/95 & c). 96-98. Explain that if you can...

IF you use the 97 harness / 97 ECU you have to repin the harness to accommodate for those components. RDM if you catch him in a REALLY GOOD mood will tell you the difference... He knows.....

Anyhow, hope this helps...

no i meant would i have to repin anything if i used everything from the 95 and just dropped it in. emissions arent a concern, because ohio doesn't have emissions testing. im just curious if i'd have to swap anything else.
but yeah i understand that my most likely route is with the 95 motor, 97 intake, wiring etc. thanks for the help.
