Tacos Eronga on Glenoaks Blvd in Sun Valley by the Ralphs. It one of the Best authentic Taco trucks around. The guy has been in the same place for the last ten years. If he had a regular resturant he would be blowing away a lot the Joints.

Oh and try the mini Quesadilla with steak for $1.25

this is an exciting thread......

having moved to los angeles from san diego, I loved the Alberto's taco chain in san diego, i mean when you can get a carne asada burrito that is like 3" in diameter and is only steak and guac for $3.50 to $4.00 thats awsome.... i wish they knew how to make burritos like that here in los angeles.... here they make you a carne asada burrito with i wee little bit of steak, tons of rice and beans and cilantro..... and they might be the same size, but they have tons of nasty filler....

kobe beef tacos sound good right now, where can i get them

so thats my two cents..

hole in the wall places are the best. chipotle makes me sick. besides, anything that serves "grilled steak", i dont consider to be mexican food at all

i acutal just ate at a bomb as hole in the wall. i used to eat there alot when i was a kid but didnt even know it was still open. me and the lady just got back, and the food is just as bomb as i remember.

i dont know the exact adress but its in the little shoping center on the corner of iowa and 3rd. Its called La Playita carneceria, its actualy a tiny grociery store, but has a small resteraunt in it.

if you're ever in the area i suggest you try it, you wont be dissapointed

I like the 'Poquito Mas' chain around the Los Angeles area
(maybe a dozen stores?).
Kinda like L.A. Salsa, but better ingredients.
I almost always get their Shrimp dishes, esp the scampi burrito.
http://www.poquitomas.com/index.php

The 'El Pescador' chain is decent for Mex seafoods.
They have a $22 molcajete dish w/ tons of carne, pollo, shrimp w/ bacon, green onions, and cactus.
http://www.yelp.com/biz/el-pescador-restaurant-los-angeles

I also like 'Senor Fish' in downtown LA for fish & shrimp tacos.
http://www.yelp.com/biz/senor-fish-los-angeles

'Yuca's' in Los Feliz makes some excellent Cochinita Pibil tacos/burritos.
http://www.yelp.com/biz/yucas-los-angeles#query:puerco%20pibil

Now if I can find decent Al Pastor in Los Angeles, I'll be happy.

I think there's more than one spot
but the one I know of is on Sepulveda and Palms in West LA
(I lived a few blocks away years ago)
It's an Oaxacan (sp?) restaurant which is different food than what people are normally accustomed to when they say Mexican food
more indigenous type of food
the chocolate Mole is awesome
only knock on my part is that it feels like it caters to the trendy/hip/white crowd so it lacks some atmosphere

I ate here once and will vouch for it
food is great (not excellent)
but the experience is amazing
great place to impress a date with
located in the Hollywood area iirc

my friend gets that burrito and his whole family eats it for dinner. El Tepeyac is awesome.

Heard a lot of good things about this place but never tried it

I also like 'Senor Fish' in downtown LA for fish & shrimp tacos.
Senor Fish - Downtown - Los Angeles, CA (http://www.yelp.com/biz/senor-fish-los-angeles)

I used to go to the one in Eagle Rock quite often when I was in College
the tostadas and fish tacos are great

There's an Irish pub/bar in downtown LA called McCormicks
that serves an amazing fish taco
it's an expensive place but happy hour is pretty cheap

I know this is a Mexican food thread but if I may
anyone that loves Pupusas needs to try La Flor Blanca on Jefferson before Vermont

it's ghetto and chunty and they only take cash
but they make the best pupusas and horchata I've ever had

I think a lot of Americans just don't have a lot of exposure to regional Mexican cooking.
Most are satisfied with a carne asada burrito and call it a day.
A shame, since there appears to be a whole lot more.

Guetalagueza isn't bad.
I go to their K-town branch around Olympic @ Normandie maybe once a year.
http://www.yelp.com/biz/guelaguetza-restaurant-los-angeles-2

I stick with their black mole tamales, orange mole, chilli-pork dish, & grasshoppers.
Their (pink?) horchata is one of the best
Their seafood is a bit weak though & it's not cheap.

Since you mentioned Salvadorean,
I used to frequent 'El Baron' on Pico @ Crenshaw, off the 10 freeway.
Breakfast was awesome there

Any Santanas in San Diego. Hands down, best california burritos in San Diego. And i've tried A LOT of cali burritos in SD. Trust me on this. They also make a mean breakfast burrito.

Saritas Taco Shop in Spring Valley. Its off the 94east on casa de oro. This place can get busy at times so its better to call in ahead. There's no drive-thru either, but its worth the wait. Its basically a city landmark now. haha anyone who has ever lived in spring valley will rave about this place. NOTE: There's actually a Santanas on the same street in the next shopping center. If you're an indecisive person, this could be a problem for you. BUT santanas has a drive-thru so if you're pressed for time, its a no brainer.

Karinas Mexican Seafood. Its on Jamacha right before it turns into 2nd in El Cajon. This is an actual restaurant. Its kinda pricey. Its not baller or anything, but its not like taco shop cheap. If you want a good sit down mexican meal, this is a solid choice.

El Pollo Grill in downtown La mesa. I forget the street. If you want any kinda of mexican chicken dish, you go here. I usually just get the pollo asado combo plate. BOMB.

Super Sergios in national city/paradise hills. again i forget the street. No stand out dishes, but all around solid. If you're in this area of SD, this is where you go.

The Barrel. Southeast Encanto area. Disclaimer: This is in a somewhat sketchy part of town so i would suggest daytime visits. lol I mean, you CAN go at night, i have, but most people probably wouldnt. Great food though! lol KILLER breakfast burritos.

By now you can tell, i eat A LOT of mexican food. hahaha I pride myself on trying all the supposed "must go to" spots. These are just a few that i think fit the bill.

There's a few more, but its like 5 am and i haven't slept yet. I'll add more later. Merry Christmas!

both around irvine, ca

el toro bravo is like authentic as hell, they make their own tortillas in the back. tacos are good, they have a good selection of meats there. albatros is pretty good, fish tacos are cheap and good, california burrito is a good choice as well.

TIJUANAS TACOS!

24578 Sunnymead Blvd
Suite F
Moreno Valley, CA 92553

The one off sunnymead is the bidnass, My favorite is the El Pastor because its actually cooked on one of these things:

http://penguinmoney.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/04/405px-tacos-al-pastor.jpg

My 2nd pick would have to be the Carne Asada.

Other notable mentions here is their Lengua and Cabeza (its not brains, its the cows cheek meat)

I prefer to get individual tacos but when im lazy i go for their "Burro Loco" (burrito) or their Tortas. The tortas are bomb bucause they use a really nice bread and the bread isnt soggy or oily like other tortas i have had. heres a pic for you guys from the last time i was there 3 pastor and 2 carne asada

i get my tacos with everything on them "Con Todo"

Their Salsa Bar is stacked too, cucumbers, pickled carrots/onion/jalapenos, and you can ask for grilled Napoles (cactus), onions and peppers! and beans is free too

Anybody know where i can get the best tamales in LA?
Cactus #2 is by my house, not bad but id rather get my " all meat" burrito from the trucks. Thats right, all meat, no beans, no rice, no cilantro, no fillers just salsa, lemon and jalapano! May be some fries and chips on the side. Lol

Chagos mexican food in San Diego. Buddy of mine showed me this place and the burritos are awesome. It gets alot of bad reviews online for some reason but i have never had any issues in the 3 years i have been going there. Carne Asada Frys and Cali Burritos are awesome.
