Utilizing a SkullWorks Evo8,9 caliper bracket made for the 240sx I have installed Evo X calipers on the front of a gtr.

First off the Evo X brakes have a ridiculous 13.9" rotor.
yeah thats !!!!!!!!! 353mm !!!!!!!!!!

Factory brake line drop out had to be removed.

Skullworks supplied some great hardware, But the Evo X calipers use a much larger 9/16 shank. had to enlarge the caliper mounting holes.

made some brake lines, and fittings (m10x1.0 to 3/8-24 inverted flare)

Rotor alignment and center... pretty dead on if you ask me.

fin.

no, wheels are not real :/

No caliper grinding required,
NO ONE makes a fitting for the caliper. you'll have to cut it yourself.

factory evo x rotors weigh in at 25lbs.!!!!
APM makes a 1 piece rotor with reverse vent and the cool fish hook's 21lbs.

Great budget brake kit.
sold my stock calipers for $300
found everything on ebay / autozone.
$500 used loaded calipers
$300 rotors
$25 fitting and lines.
-------------------
$525 total cost.
so evo x calipers and rotors will work with skullworks brackets... DONE

That's weird...for some reason the brambos that come off the evos don't hold much value compared to the STi's brambos. Do the new evo brambos also have an issue with the paint flaking off after serious track time?

Your right on that.

Brembo supplies Mitsu bare cores and they prep them for paint. Some savings this way but heck, why can't Mitsu use proper quality paint.

CP&CT examples below.

i dunno about the paint on evo X calipers,
my brothers evo's paint didn't last one season on the track.

don't really care how they look, as long as they hold up on the track. this brake set is known for getting heat soaked, and fading out after a hot lap. some simple ventilation cures it. (so im told )

That bracket looks nice compared to the one i got. I have Evo 9 front brakes on my 240sx hatch. I have not noticed any fade at all yet. Bites super hard since i have a z32 bmc too.

Dont really care about the paint, its not the reason i got them. I got them for their stopping power, not for looks.

Thats hot.

But yea...paint isnt all that bad...you can always get them powder coated and it will be much stronger.

so evo brembos are painted instead of powder coated?

Since its a 13.9 inch rotor, I am assuming these will not fit under 17 inch wheels. STI and evo 8 and 9 calipers fit under 17 inch wheels. Looks like evo x may need at least a 18 inch wheel.

Chrischeezer

yeah needs a 18" wheel, about 1/4" of clearance with the wheel and caliper.

I'm doing the same upgrade now, any pointers? Also where did you get the brake lines done and for how much?
