fisrt off, this site rules, but its starting to **** me off as most of my posts dont ever happen cause it times out. This is the second time Ive writen this post, becaue the first time it didnt go through.
Well I ordered a crapload of part last night from my local dealer and needless to say it was an expereince. Im starting my 5lug swap, Z32 brake upgrade, shocks, spring, poly bushings, etc... the work this weekend. So I go to the dealer to order some parts so I can have them this weekend. Since this is the second time Ive type this Im not going to go into the detail I did the first, Im to lazy and busy at work. So key point:
I talked to two guys at the dealer, first one didnt know what an SR20 was, didnt know Nissan made Infiniti, was getting irritated with me because I would not give up and go to an inifinti dealer to get my parts because HE thought they would not work since I have a G20. That guy leaves for a phone call. Another guy comes to help me, he doesnt know ANY chassis codes to save his life, Im ordering parts from a S13, S14 and Z32. He did not know any of them. This is alright I guess, BUT the chassis code is right next to the year of the car when he selects it to look up parts. How can you not see it, nor how can you not pick up on it when you job is parts! It took me an hour and a hlf to order all my parts, and I had half of the part numbers walking into the place, that I had gotten from tech writ-ups. I think these two guys learned more in that hour and half than they have ever at work.
So how messed up is your parts guy? Anyone got any good stories?
Also anyone know where I can get those parts CD's they use at the counter? Would make it a lot easier if I had a copy. :)

Anytime I get ****ed off at my local Nissan dealers parts department, I just go over to the pay counter and feast my eyes on the hotness that works there. I am ALWAYS glad to fork over a few bucks for my Genuine Nissan Parts. :boink:

Only time I've really had trouble was when the parts guy was trying to convince me that "Your 300zx only needs ONE fuel filter" when I asked for 2 (one for the z32, one for my s14). And the other time when they wanted $6 each for valve stem seals for a 240z... I think I'll start going to another dealer from now on. Too bad I used to work for the other local Nisan dealer and walked out on the job one very busy saturday, so going there isn't an option, haha.

1. Needs a little more...
2. WTF??? Nuff said
Back on topic, the Nissan parts guys here at the dealership I have visited in the past are pretty knowledgable. They didn't know chassis codes either but other than that and SR RB knowledge, they are good guys.

The dealer closest to my house is scary. I asked them for a quote on a clutch installation and they thought it was fwd. Back in March, I ordered an endcap for the kouki sideskirts. It took me ten minutes to explain to the woman behind the counter that the car was a 240SX and not a 250ZX. It then took another ten minutes for me to explain what I needed. All in all, they ended up losing my order, and I ended up getting the part in May. Then, last week I went to the same dealer to buy a wheel stud. Well, the girl(decent looking, maybe a 7 out of 10) behind the counter had no idea what I was talking about. She kept saying, "I need a VIN!" I was like, "Bitch....it's a wheel stud, I see them right over there on the shelf." She then went upstairs and asked someone what a "wheel sock" was. So a mechanic came down there and I told him what I needed. I was gone in like 10 sec.
From now on, I'm just gonna go to the dealer by my work. It's farther away, but they know their stuff.

not too many ppl in the US use chassis codes to identify cars, so it's no surprise that they don't know it.
when i went to japan, all these chassis codes drove me crazy, i didn't know what the heck were the A31, DB6, SXE10 and such.

I've only been to Nissan parts to buy a plastic door rod clip. Maybe I'll go over there and see how much of a hassle it'll be to order the S14 rear 5 lug hubs.

that picture is possably one of the funniest things I have ever seen. Eureka nissan dealership is pretty knowledegable about 240's. 3 out of 5 of the mechanics drive them. What really gets me is when a salesman trys to sell you a 350 while you are sitting at the parts counter waiting for your parts.

I think she works under the manager's desk.....
I can get Spark plugs for days....Denso, NGK etc etc.
Funny Encounters w/ the Guys at Pacific Auto. Wholesale -
"I need spark plugs for a 90-96 300zxTT"....parts guy hands me six plugs....and I say "I only need 4"......= BLANK STARE
"I also need a exhaust manifold gasket for a Sentra SE-R 2.0 1991-94"....."you have a sentra too?"...."no...same car"
"This belt is too long"......20 mins later....."this belt is too short"......30 mins later....."a little longer".....when making my KA PS pump work on the SR.
And.....lastly...when making the KA rebuilt alternator work w/ my SR instead of grinding the SR bracket I removed a nut on the starter.....happened to be the voltage regulator...haha. Took alternator back and they were like "wheres the ground for the regulator"...."It wasn't there"......hehe. Cool guys.

LOL  That pic is hilarious!
Anyway, one of the nissan dealerships by house told me there wasnt a chin spolier made for the 97-98 240sx. he was like "no im sorry sir, but you are mistaken. Chin spoilers were only available for 95-96 models"
ME : "NO, i believe YOU"RE mistaken and YOU dont know what you're talking about."
I actually went back there to buy the relay for my foglights which are indeed OEM parts. It took this fool a freakin hour and half to find it. He kept giving me the wrong one. I was like "come with me, and look for yourself." *jamming the relay*. "You see that? It doesnt fit. Now please quit telling me thats the only one you have, cause OBVIOUSLY IT ISNT!"
needless to say, i dont go to that dealership anymore. Those guys are complete morons.

The parts people at my dealership are pretty cool. They never take very long to find what I need. The service section on the other hand... Well, Thurazor can speak more about that, heh. He's had some really interesting experiences there (yet he keeps going back  ).

You guys are phucking killing me with those pix LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think the bleach blonde dude has MS...you know, cant walk right due to a problem because his hands look really frail.
Cool the love him and put him up front and center..probably a very cool guy as a matter of guess.
I am actually giggling myself silly so much the back of my head hurts...ever laugh that hard??
The chick on the right a few rows back is not bads either..I could easily strike a conversation and commence with some :boink:
A great laugh folks...keep it up..
Oh Hell, I need to tell a story I guess, can't help myself.
I go into the local Nissan and ask for a FSM.
Dude says, car is too old. They discontinue them after 7 years. I said dude, here is the part number and they are available..I am sure of it..he said, not here, we don't order FSM's for customes no matter what...it is a liability. What if you got crushed under your car? We would be sued!!
I left with a big...phuck you anyway (thank you anyway) . I ordered it on line.
One more...at the "zone" I wanted a pair of flange gaskets for the pipes..(mine leaks some when cold) , he brought out this huge azzed 3 inch single asbestos gasket for a 350 chevy..I just walked out. This was after giving him all the info on the computer. Don't even try to buy an upper rad. hose there...a total joke.

No way that guy has MS. He probably arrived late for the picture and they were like "you're too short for the back row, but....too tall for the front row...so....unless you want to be the only guy kneeling down, why dont you just hunch a little...maybe a pimp style slumpdown or whatever." Personally I would have knelt (is that a word?) down.

I went to a place called Pro-Line Performance that
has a good bit of performance parts for foreign cars.
I asked the guy what brands of headers he could get
and he tried to sell me a pacesetter. I was like can
you get in a hotshot header. He told me he had never
heard of Hotshot. I tried to explain it was better and
that the Pacesetter did not have a good finish and would
just crack. He was like well most people don't get
polished headers anyways unless they're for show. I just
left and ordered it online after that.
