Well some of you may remember seeing pics of my new car before. Here is the link to the thread, pictures are towards the middle-

here is the zilvia post as well:

Lots has happened since then. Those pictures were taken the weekend before I went to get my license plate and get it registered. This is one crazy story so sit back..

May 5, 2003-

I get my car all prepared over the weekend for my first trip out. I went to the tag place monday morning and I now have my license plate and can legally drive my new 97 240SX SE. I'm so excited so I drive it all over town for about two hours and go home after that.

That night was one I'll never forget. My brother and some friends wanted to see it so we all met downtown at the local college. It was pretty scary even from the start. My Speedo would not work. It said 0 no matter what speed I was going, I thought about turning around but figured oh well. That was the only night that has ever happened to me..

So we met up at the college and took some pics:
http://www.eniety.com/pichost/pic/collegemeetnight.jpg
From left to right: My new 240, my friend Rob's 95 240, Gabo's 2003 Eclipse, my bro's 91 MR2 Turbo(all 5spd).

As we head home afterwards at about midnight, I get confident and figure I could try drifting around a corner. This car was all stock on relatively bald tires. I turn left around a corner and spin the wheels out in 2nd gear going about 30 mph. The rear is let free and it drifts around the corner, but on its way back it snaps back around to the left, I try to correct and it snaps to the right. For some reason I didn't hit the brake pedal, its like I blanked out or something, and I go spinning around. I whipped across the 3 lanes in a drift and BAM - right into a house.

I "woke up" rolling backwards back into the street. The airbags decide to then burst in my face 5 secs or so after the collision. I turn the key to get the car on and the engine runs so I brought it back up to the side of the road out of traffic. I was about 2ft away from demolishing a mobile home next to the house, and luckily there was no traffic while all this happened.

This happened in a presumably bad part of town but the people turned out to be pretty nice about everything. This part is pretty funny now that I look back.

My brother saw what happened in his rear view, pulled a 180 in the middle of the road and drove against traffic to get back to where I crashed. He ran out and made sure I was OK and everything. I then was greeted by a fire marshall who lived next to them. He checked out everything as well. Next up was a stoned man who was just wandering down the street. He saw what happened and came over to me and was like "Dudeee man whhat happened hereeee?". "Everyone needs a hug". He comes and tries to start huggin on me so I say "get away from me" and I had to hold him off me for a few secs. He then tells me he'll pick up what I spilled in the road. Turns out that in my pathway was a giant trash can filled with nothing but used diapers. I CLEARED this thing like 30 ft and dirty diapers were all over the road lol. This guy went out in traffic and picked them all up. Next out was the person in the house. This old guy comes out in his bathrobe - "What the hell is goin on around here". "Um, I ran into your house". "ok well I only rent this place anyway". He goes back inside. A cop shows up after that, preparing to write 2 tickets for me. In the middle of writing the tickets he says, "You know what, this really sucks." He rips them up, tells me how this happened to him once, makes sure I can make it home ok, and leaves. I then bungie cord the hood to the chassis and drive home.

Here are some pics from the next morning:

Luckily I got insurance that monday afternoon, so the next week was spent going through that process and I was approved to have the car fully repaired because my police report was good, total costs equaling $8,500 after my $500 deductable(I bought the car for $8,700). Turns out the police officer put that there was gravel in the road and I slipped on it and lost control. How awesome was he..I am so grateful. So I had no 240 for the next month while it was getting repaired.

During the repair I ordered my list of mods (check my signature) and changed the color of dark green to a 2002 Nissan Gloss White for an extra $1,200 for a GOOD paint job. I've spent the last couple months touching it up and getting the mods on.

Through this whole process I have learned much and have had to spend much, but its all worth it and now I couldn't be happier. Don't bash me on drifting, I think you've realized I've learned my lesson. I am thankful for all who have supported me: The neighbors of that area, the owner of the house, my parents, the police officer, my friends and the insurance company. The only damage to the house was a cracked piece of wood on the corner of it.

Pictures of the finished car are below. I'm not doing anything else to it until I get enough saved up for a turbo setup. Thanks all, hope you enjoy.

I dont get it.. am I the only one here who thinks you are an idiot? This is a very low-key example of how this whole "drift" scene gets a bad reputation, from people like you who just dont know better. The lucky part of this story is that YOU didnt get burned, THAT is why you are happy. Do you understand how much damaged you COULD have caused, and just how FUKKED you really could have been after a fukkup like this? The lack of common sense here amazes me.

1) You didnt drift, you lost control.
2) The cop could have issued you some citations, I guess he was feeling nice.
3) Your insurance is easily covering this mess, you lucked out.

I guess this incident is a way for you to upgrade, but I just think its wick wick wack.

Learn car control before you do stupid ****. Dont upgrade until you learn car control. And last but not least, dont be stupid.

I guess you felt so angry you felt like posting the same thing twice? I knew someone was going to do this. Don't start playing father with me, I didn't even post half the **** I had to go through for this. Leave it to someone on zilvia to always try to put someone in their place. Everything you said in your post was already said in mine or at least implied in mine. "The lack of common sense here amazes me." Why don't you read it again for clarification. Don't be so quick to put people down.

yeah I hear ya, it was a huge lesson/wakeup-call for me and I learned a lot from the whole experience. See I had never been in a wreck before or pulled over before so I thought I was pretty much invincible on the road. It shows you that anything can happen at any time and you have to be careful. I did get new tires - Kumhos Supra Ecsta 712s all the way around on the stock SE rims, love em. They were only $67 a piece at tirerack too, $313 shipped for all 4, real good price.

I dont care about "playing father," I am just speaking my opinion. When you post things online, we're all allowed to speak our mind, arent we? I am not trying to put you in your place, I dont care about all that. All I am doing is speaking my opinion. I think its a damn shame insurances have to clean up intentional slip-ups all in an attempt to "drift." These bullshiet magazines write all this crap and we get all these new-schoolers jumping face-forward into RWD cars thinking they are Takumi's.

Excuse me for being ****ed off, I think its retarded that mess-ups like this end up in an UPGRADED paint job. I dunno, maybe I am just twisted and sick.. and mean, but thats the way I feel about this whole situation.

I didnt post it twice, I actually deleted one.. I dunno why it wrote the message twice, but someone with mod capability just delete the excess.

Its good to hear you are okay, thats fine and dandy. Its good no one else got hurt or screwed over, thats great. But dont say "Don't bash me on drifting, I think you've realized I've learned my lesson" in an attempt to avoid any criticism, especially from us older list members. I dunno why I am ****ed, its probably just because 240's and "drift-ing" has gotten so damn oversaturated lately. Serious, I am at the point I where I want to just smash every other RWD car on the road.

safe safe.. ;)

haha yeah drifting has gotten overplayed like madd, has anyone seen the new super street? Drifting and SR SwAP JdM TiGhT is all thats in it this month. I bet non nissan owners are gettin real mad at that magazine. Anyways, about the paint. The shop was required to paint the car with the insurance money. They had to paint the hood, bumper, and both fenders (half the car). So I inquired about painting the whole car for some extra money. They said yeah we'll do it, chose the 2002 nissan white color and paid $1200 extra out of pocket for the entire car, plus my $500 deductible for the whole deal. So, it did result in an upgraded paint job, but for $1,700.

One reason people are ****ed, is because when you do stuff like this it affects insurance rates for people in your age group and with your car.

Your just one example but I bet all these wannabe drifters put together have probably caused a raise in insurance rates.

MAN YOU CAME OUTA THAT REALY LUCKY. I have a 1992 180
(Australian for what you call a 240)and i have done some
major mods to it.390hp at the wheels and suspension mods.
Mainly for drifting. The main thing i want to say is that
im glad you're ok and nobody got hurt. However if you want
to drift the first thing i was taught by people
down here is that you do it in a controlled environment.
Now im not gonna harp on at ya like an okld man but if you
done it once on the street your most likley gonna do it again
and the next time you might not be so lucky

Its people that make mistakes and then claim insurance like yourself
that makes me not pay insurance cause every quote that i have been
given is almost $3000 a year and im 20 years old

So i drift at organised days with my group or club and i put away each year the money that i would have had to pay an insurance company
and i dont touch it. This way by the time im 30 ill have a deposit for a house if i dont do anything stupid on the street.

so please dont write in your posts how you know how dangerous it was and how youl never do it again because that is just an invitation for people to bash ya on doing something stupid

When I was young, I could land in a pile of doo doo and come out smelling like roses...but no more.

No bitching, no preaching...but what turned into a good luck situation could just as easily landed you with a 30 year prison sentence for vehicular manslaghter as well.

Had a little child had gone outside to pick mommy a goodnight flower, it all could have been over.

Glad you now realize it.

Don't bask in the glory. next time, you may not be here to tell about it at all.

Fatal accidents occur under 30MPH also.

Lesson learned I hope.

We don't want to read about you in the papers.

I am right up the road from you. I will be happy to go to the track with you and show you some skills I have learned. Would not be only fun, entertaining and a big rush, you would learn how to watch out for the unexpected and do something about it during...before it is too late..'

Practice on the track. Get a set of cheap rims and tires and learn the car before you do any swapping.

G'Luck mate.

dood, I'm glad everybody is OK, but I'm with some of the other guys on this one. I'm not going to preach too much because I don't know you, but I find it hard to believe you have learned much of a lesson from that incident. . .

The reason folks are ****ed is because stuff like this reflects badly on us, and is reflected in insurance rates. As 240s become more popular as a "drift car," more people are going to get in accidents. Insurance companies will see reports on this and it will cost us all money. Sure, you may get a free paint job, but it is done by ****ing the rest of us over.
