Ok I know it sounds like a stupid question but can anyone give me some good ideas where to start a rebuild on an sr20? should i just start taking stuff off and cleaning it should i take it all apart down to the block should i work with the left side then the right? just some questions maybe if someone has a link on how to rebuild an engine? i did search lots of different stuff came up...nothing helpful. ok thanks guys.

really you should find someone with at least some engine rebuild experience. if you mean rebuild you mean getting the head fully cleaned, valves ground, new valve seals, etc. and the block cleaned as well as crankshaft (check tolerances). also you would want to rering or bore. if this is not what you mean by rebuild im sorry for the wrong info. first of all you would want to get the block and head completely stripped from everything else on the engine. so get yourself a sharpie and a bunch of various sized bags. if you have to do it your self take pictures as you go along. it should straight forward but make sure you have at least a chiltons manual for your car to help you (fsm much better). i dont know if the sr20det has different pistons than the sr20's stateside. once you get your head and engine seperated and everything disassembled bring it to the local import engine machine shop and they will help you/take it from there.
