clutch problems

the other day i was driving and i went to shift into 4th and i had no pressure in my clutch at all. so i turned the car off put it in second turned it back on and got home in second. now i replaced the slave and i still have no pressure in my clutch. now my question how should the clutch be bled? i got rid of the damper box or whatever by routing the hardline straight from the master cylinder to the softline that runs to the slave. and if i am bleeding it right and i have replaced the slave is the master cylinder the problem? thanks in advance

should be how you bleed brake lines...thats how ive always done it. and keep the fluid top at all times.

yea the way we were doing it was someone was at the clutch id open the bleeder and then theyd push then id close it and then release. also does it matter if the car is level all around? because i just have the front on jackstands

You got it the other way around, you have them pump the pedal, hold the pedal in, then you pop the bleeder open and then close it again. Get a hose onto the bleeder and get a clear plastic bottle filled with a lil bit of brake fluid. Everytime you open the bleeder, you should see bubbles coming out of the hose into the fluid inside the bottle. Repeat the process until you dont see any more bubble coming out.

Also check your clutch pedal area to see if there is any fluid dripping down from the master cylinder. Also check the clutch line... the rubber hoses commonly go out.

When bleeding do what fliprayzin said... it can take a while.... be sure you get all the bubbles out and keep refilling the master cylinder so it does not get too low... if it does you'll have to bleed all over again.
