View Full Version : What's your opinion of my car?

well, it's an '89 coupe, that is currently getting a new engine *wink* and swapped to 5-speed. The interior is being completly swapped out for the black/grey..much prettier...I have the 96 s14 se seats, an HKS exhaust, and am going to 5 lug as soon as the car gets out of the shop (throwing on the Q45 brakes and power slotted rotors now). It will have a silvia face as soon as I get back from japan, as well as a fresh coat of black paint. As far as suspension goes, I am unsure as to what I want to run...any suggestions?P.S. it is going to be a daily driver back and forth to good old work...yay!

Thanks for the help and advice in advance!!!

Well gotta love the gold s13s, the color is growing on me. Like the rims too. Join the P.F.C. (pignose fan club) :D even though you are gonna be abandoning the pignose soon.

So far your plans are pretty good, you'll fit in nicely among us. Anyway for suspensionm well by your mod list or soon to be mod list, I would assume you are not pinching every penny, so I would say get some coilovers. But you say its gonna be a daily driver, well will it ever see any tracks? If it will coilovers would still be nice, not the most comfortable but will make up for it at the track.

If you are just gonna use it for daily driver get a spring and shock combo, something like kyb agx shocks, sportline or pro-kit springs.

Then since its an 89 getting ur bushings replaced might be a good idea PDM (http://www.pdm-racing.com) has a special on all bushing in one package.

Suspension is really in depth though, so many factors that will determine your outcome, some just stick with shock and spring, some go and change tie rod ends, control arms, etc.. It all depends on condition of car, and type of usage, search a little and you'll get a better heads up. There are some really nice posts on suspension out there.

Thanks, but that is on a 4lug set up....I am going 5 lug and throwing some 17x8 +35 racing harts on. Trust me I am not a huge fan of the eagle alloys, but hey they are better than the stock steelies...:)

Kid~ thanks for the info *grin* but I am on a budget, and doing the work with some assistance...it might see some track action when I get back in the states....but for now I think I will just do the spring and shock...I am leaning towards the sportlines though.
Thanks

Nice car you got there. Good luck with all your plans! :)

Oh, one question though, are you from San Diego? Cuz i swear i've seen that car or one exactly like it before.

kazuo

Mmm, champagne gold. Looks sweet! Will look better with Japanese front end too.

The wheels gotta go tho. dame da sore :P

If you wanna go el cheapo on suspension, just do the usual Eibach Sportline/Tokico Blues or KYB... the blues are pretty stiff so i'd say go for the KYB adjustables. :)

otherwise look into good coil-over setups. JIC FLT, TEIN HA/HE, etc etc

Checking suspension bushings and such as others have suggested = good idea. also get front camber kit/rear upper arms cus the drop will mess up camber!

good luck

I'm sorry, but I cannot possibly accurately give you my impression of your car without a picture of you. Preferably scantily clad. :o

Just kidding. Not bad. I woulda kept the stock steelies though. Go get one of the chrome rings (cop style) and rock it two-tone. The tires have to go too. There is something inherently hot about sticky tires on stock steelies.

geez whats wrong with you people, those rims look hot. I mean old school style fat 5 spokes, looks damn well sexy. The stock steelies suck balls. I would rather have the ones on her car than any oem US s13 wheel.

I'd buy em if I werent poor. And they look even better on that black pignose, any more pics of that car, I have seen it on FA before.

And umm ya where are the pics of you;)

mmm.
i'm not a big fan of racing harts but nobody asked me.
getting the wrong rims might spoil the JDM touch of your ride since you're doing a conversion.
it depends on what RH's you're getting too.
good luck.
maybe you can come back for advice when you decide on rims.

S13SilviaGirl
08-10-2003, 12:35 AM
"spoil the JDM touch"?
How are racing harts spoiling that? These are the RH hyper tuners...JDM, not the cheap USDM knockoffs...but, out of curiosity, what would you suggest for wheels?
Sorry if I came across in a bad way...
-Lisa

mrmephistopheles

Hyper Tuners are a bit older... they were last produced in '95 iirc. Before the RH Evo (knockoff) line came out...

That aside, I like the wheels. I don't, however, like your tires. Get some stickies and rather than squeezing 245/35/15s on there, put on some properly sized 205/55/15s. :) I look forward to seeing "update" pics of the car. ... oh, and of course, of you!

Don't kill me :axe:

Honestly, that's a nice find you have there (minus the auto tran and rims). Since you have rims already work out...I don't have any suggestions. Well...actually...for suspension Tein HE's or JIC FLT-A2 coilovers would be nice. Along with some Cusco strut bars and a LSD. Try to get the non-projector S13 silvia headlights. Are you going to keep the body stock (JDM stock)?

So..your in the Navy eh? So is my older bro. Try to hook us up if you can when you go to Japan.

Pics of you would be AWESOME!!!!!!;)

EDIT: Too bad your not in my area....let alone my time zone :wtc:

Well 95S14, It is now a 5-speed, and I did install a VLSD when I did the tranny swap... and I have some strut bars in the works, and waiting on paint...ukkk hate that brown. If I do decide to get a body kit while I am over there, it will probably be a GP Sports kit...mmmmm:drool: And Yeppers, I am in the Navy...have a stressfull job, but, it is a lot of fun...I pack Parachutes, ejection seats, and basically take care of all the life saving equipment for the aircrew & pilots. Thats my job in a nutshell ;)
