I mean, it could be a leaky injector oring, which does happen from time to time, but I'd think youd have driveability issues with that as well. Because he didnt mention it acting up or anything, just the smell, Id think the gasket would be the culprit. My car smells like gas too because of that gasket that I havent gotten around to replacing yet.

yeah i had a injector gasket go on my s13 but i could clearly hear it leaking it almost sounded like a vacumm leak soo i agree with the above state ment smell no issues just leaking some where bad gasket check that stuff first

Deleting it will make your car smell like gas fumes, at least based off of my previous experiences...

false, all of my emissions have been removed, i can't smell gas, only coming out the exhaust, either then that im guessing it might be that O-Ring that goes over fuel pump.
i have that same problem, but only when i turn hard.

Fuel pump cover gasket is my guess.
On my S14, it was this....I had tightened the lid down, but not ANYWERE near as tight as it should have been (you really can get it tight by using a hammer and screwdriver and tapping the edge of the cap).

i did a check on my fuel pump about 5 months ago and i know the gasket is new and i know i tighten it down good but i will have to double check since that may be the problem.
Thanks Zilvians!

I have this problem on my little ole NX2000 -- it turned out to be the fuel tank pressure check valve --- it is clogged up and not relieving the fuel pressure vapor back into the main fuel line. Do you hear a buzzing sound when you turn the car off?

the s13s have metal tanks do they not? if so look and see if you have rust in your tank? Have you done that?

gasket in the fuel tank assembly right underneath the first plate, 4 bolts, swap it and bingo no fumes. unless the smell gets worse when you turn your heater or ac on, than its the injector o ring.

it is your fuel pump gasket. trust me. replace it, and tighten that cover down like a mother fucker. it will eliminate that. and if it doesnt, check your entire fuel system. if there is a problem with it, you will find it.
