Hey everybody, I'm kinda starting to get fed up with all this fix this break that thing that seems to happen to cars but whatever, I'm done complaining.. I seem to be in quite a pickle, my car leaks tons of water out of freezeplugs on both the intake and exhaust side, it was never that bad before but now when I park the car I can see water dripping from the block, and I don't trust to drive it for more than 20 miles. Other than that, the car runs like a champ, but unfortunatley I can't get to the plugs to replace them. I was wondering if anyone knows how to get them off without taking the whole intake and exhaust out, but if I really have to can someone give me a link to a good write up on how to take off the intake? Thanks

First off, look up an SR FSM. (Or KA, whatever you have)
Or just look at the intake manifold. See how it works, take it off.
I'm telling you man, just dig into it, your not going to learn unless you do. If you have any common sense at all you'll figure it out.

I have a ka, and I've tried taking the intake off before to do an emissions delete. I got like halfway through and said eff it and put the thing back together, but then again it wasn't urgent so I wasn't really trying that hard.

Removing the IM is pretty straight foward with the RIGHT tools.

Actually, it really is easy. Its just a matter of how organized you are and if you can follow step by step instructions in the factory service manual. Want the other way then? Pull the entire motor out of the chassis and put it on an engine stand. Now you can access the freeze plugs. Good luck..

If you think taking the intake manifold off the engine is hard then this car thing will only get worse for you.
Get some tools, even the $29 set of Craftsman, some screw drivers and needle nose pliers (for those spring clamps) will get it off.
The FSM is your friend if you want to get far with this. Good luck.

Gear wrenches really help with the tight areas. Or you give me $50 I'll come over and take it off for you.

What section of the fsm is it in?
You need to go to the regional section for help or PM drftem.
