Ok, I am very cheap, and am wantin to see if it is possible to make some home made white face guages.
Actually, the only white face part would be the tachometer, because I have a 1992 240sx SE Coupe 5-speed with the HUD.

But, If I found nice clean shot of someones white face tachometer,
took some thick photo paper, printed the tachometer picture onto it cut it out, and then used black sharpie to color the back side of the numbers so that light can not go through, would it work??

If someone can post a clean and close up shot of their tachometer that when printed would be the same size as a real life one, I will cut it out and try I and report back to you if it worked or not.

If you would like to e-mail me pics, send them to [email protected]

Thanks.

I read a long time ago either on a website or in an auto rag how to DIY the gauges. This was back before the gauges were everywhere and not dime a dozen. If memory serves me correctly the individual took apart there gauge cluster and scanned each gauge face. In photoshop the reversed the color scheme of the scanning and had it printed at kinkos on some quality paper.

Unfortunately I don't remember what car or truck they used to do this as I'm a voracious reader for info on all types of cars and trucks.

Wish ya the best of luck in the DIY project.

Why does your S13 have my low-profile projectors on there? I demand you remove them unless you say "ClearCorners.Com Super Bad Projector Conversion" :)

hehehe UNLESS THATS A COMPETETORS KIT! hehehe

one thing tho, DIY might work for a while, but over time color will fade if the material isn't good quality. sharpie fades, so will most ink.

like i replaced my gauge cluster light blubs with some cheap colored bulbs (red, $2 bucks a pack). Its only been... like 3 months and the color has started to fade to a nasty pink, argh, no doubt i'll have to replace them in the near future.

white face gauges aren't that expensive, you should save yourself the trouble of worrying about it later, BUT if you're doing this for fun, then go for it =) knock yourself out. Y

LOL not anymore... :P That was a photoshop doodle that grew into a sig. Your projectors (http://www.clearcorners.com/products/nissan/240sx1/F_lowpro/) are sweet looking but just too much for my budget (you get what you pay for). To be honest my doodle was of the less expensive Eastbear (http://www.jspec.com/eastbears13.html) lights which have caught my fancy.

I found these homeade lights (http://www.club240.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=2294) which come assembled with a lexan cover for $500 or $250 unassembled and no lexan cover but the guy is just starting out and I don't know anyone nor have I seen any real good images of the finished product yet. In there defense they do look nice and they're covered unlike the eastbears I just don't know enough about them yet.

So... having typed all that well "No free advertising for joo! http://216.40.249.192/s/cwm/cwm/cwm27.gif "
