Anybody know what the KA24 mission with no bell housing and drained of fluid weighs?
Yes, I have searched, but the search terms are too vague and I cant seem to get any relevant results.

I'd say ~70lbs, with no bellhousing.
It's right at ~80lbs with no fluid...if memory serves me correctly. In the name of full disclosure, I've never had one on a scale.

My post is fairly accurate, I shipped a broken down SR tranny from Japan
Gears were under 70lbs (Since that was the weight limit) so i believe 64 lbs
Bell housings were around 20 lbs each I believe but added up to 40lbs

So it can be done!! This is the exact reason I am asking. I am planning on building an SR20 that will pop SR20 missions all day, so I am looking for a cheap alternative. The CA mission is stronger than the SR, but they are actually really hard to find these days. So I was tossing around the idea of having a KA mission shipped over from the states, and as you pointed out, the weight limit is 70 lbs.
If the mission, minus bell housing, and drained, comes in under 70 lbs, I should be good.
Just to clarify, will the mission need to be broken down further than removing the bell housing and draining all fluid to get it shipped. I making the assumption that the KA and SR missions are very similar in weight?
How long did you live in Japan? I am actually in South Korea right now, but I am planning on being back in Japan by years end. My 180 is rusting away at a buddies shop right now........ should have brought it over with me, oh well.

ive heard different things about the CA's tranny somthing regarding the Syncros
Yeah just remove both of the bellhousings wrap it up good. Make sure you secure the box really good as well
KA and SR tranny are basically the exact same, 5 gear is the only difference IIRC
I was in Okinawa for a few years

Sweet....... I think I will probably go for the KA mission. Its the least expensive, legit solution I can think of. I don't want to get to deep into the SR, just want to have fun with it for a year or 2, what I really want to do is the 2JZ swap. It remains to be seen if I am going to be able to get it past inspection.
