SPA Turbo USA | Design Engineering, Inc. (http://www.designengineering.com/catalog/spa-turbo-usa)
apparently they are from south america, right now there only a few things i would get from south america, well there are two things which i know are hot commodities, women and well they've made movies about the other product,
i know that south america is know for supplying the US with addictive powders, have lots of metal music, they are cutting down rain forests, and have hot women, oh and some places have good food. didn't know they make turbos

I've been running them for years... The turbos are from brazil -
the 50-63 (5000 with .63 hot side) is on my car and does 420/364tq @ 22psi
We have a b16 on a 6000 @ 512HP and a h22 @ 620 also on a 6000.
the 50-48 will spool super fast on a KA - maxing out in the 400-450 area (because of the tight hot side)

Local guy I know used to be sponsored by them. Pretty sure he never had any problems with his turbos.

Reese is still running the same 6000 from last year. Not sure what bagley is running on the s15 - but his daily still has a 6300gts.
chelsea got a precision after like 3 or 4 years of being on the same turbo. I think that dude is gonna kick some butt at xdc sat.

Considering that Reese hasn't blown up one of those turbos yet I'd say it's pretty good. That man loves blowing stuff up.

That's your oil feed, the center hole. Some people use flanged oil feed which is why there's two other holes but it's easier to just use a AN fitting.
For $699 you can get a brand new Turbonetics, Garrett, Precision, or Comp Turbo (with 1 year warranty). I wouldn't both buying a refurbished for the same price.

Since most aftermarket journal bearing turbos are the same I have no problem recommending either Garrett, Turbonetics, or Comp Turbo.
Couple of options here if you want a Garrett.
Garrett T series - Journal Bearing : atpturbo.com (http://www.atpturbo.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=tp&Category_Code=TBN)
Turbonetics has a 1 year no fault warranty on all of their turbos. Comp Turbo also have a very good 1 warranty on all of their turbos. Both of these companies have minimum advertised pricing so just call up one of their master distributors and any turbo in the T3/T4 category should be around $700 if you can haggle.

thats a very high price for refurbished... - the MSRP for new is lower than that i think...
The specs written there are all messed up also -
the COMPRESSOR and TURBINE measurements are backwards.

Compressor and turbine specs look right to me, where are you seeing it backwards?
Either way, buy new!

Just about, I have a friend that builds turbo Volkswagens and these are the only turbos he uses. He has one on a turbo VR6 and its making close to about 500whp, and if I am not mistaken he's using a SPA 7000M turbo. Yea most of them are journal bearing but they are really nice journal bearings, and they spin really freely like a ball bearing turbo. They are definitely worth it. Buy one you'll definitely be happy with one, I would definitely buy one if I didn't have a Garrett already.

The spa turbo is originaly in the $1000.00 range. I was just like you for about 2 months searching everywhere trying to find any little information on spa not because I couldnt afford a garrett but I realy just wanted to see how well built they are. After doing alot of research I found they make turbo kits for mostly european cars and some honda motors and a few others. So I checked out their fourms come to find everyone likes their turbos so i went and bought one. I was running a garrett gt2871r and switched it out for a spa 5000 at 20lbs of boost on the gt28 I dynoed 351whp 336tq. On the spa I made a gain 402whp 364tq. Thats at 20lbs and the turbo has more to go. It spooles up almost as fast as my gt2871r did. To sum it up I think the spa turbos are amazing for the price and the craftsmanship. I say go for it and write another review everyone needs to know how good these turbos are and there just isn't enough information on them for people to (gamble). Also I wanted to say I have been running this spa turbo for over a year and nothing has gone wrong with it. only shitty thing I found about buying an spa turbo is that its a 4 bolt exhaust flange which not many people make down pipes for that. So just make your own like i did and you will be set.
