I have a Blow-by control valve that is currently blocked off on my RB26.
It is threaded into the block then a hose is run to the valve cover.
What is the purpose of this?
I ask because I am still diagnosing issues with the car and was reading the maunal and it tells me how to check it but I have no idea what its job is, it is supposed to have a flow one way but not the other and from what I was told by the shop that installed it was that the hose collapsed so they blocked it off and the motor should be fine. I ofcourse know if it was supposed to be there then there is a reason and I want the hose back on.

Where the hose attaches to on the valve cover, Most of the time it's a stong vaccum from this sucking air into the valve cover, but oil is apparent on firewall and inside.

I found a hole in the hose and patched it with nissan liquid gasket and installed it this morning but like they said it started to collapse completely on it's self so I took it off and replaced the block. I want to take off the valve completely and check it according to the manual and see if it operates correctly. But I want to know it's job completely and the effects it would have by not runnining it answered by by preferably Nissan Techs or ASE certified Mechanics not self proclaimed do it yourselfers, had my fair share of those. Thanks
Just to note some of the symptoms I am haveing are bogging and studering and RPM drops to 450 then 730 then 950 and A/F drops to 9 when clutch pedal is depressed, and running rich in the 12-13 at idle and 14.3 at cruise.
