(s13 dohc 91)
i had noticed my car was throwing smoke a few weeks back
after i changed the fuel filter i thought the problem had gone away :w00t:
i finally got an exhaust for my car and it sounds siiiiiiiiiiiiiicccccccckkkkkkkk
today after dropping off my uncle at work i saw a cloud of white smoke behind my car!!!
when i got home i noticed that everytime i step on the gas white smoke comes out but its not constant, like its only if i tap on the gas, i replaced the head gasket when i first got the car plus i dont see any sing of moist
i have almost brand new: wire plugs, o2 sensor, cap and rotor, fuel filter.
my egf and the box the to the headers still there.
could my fuel pump be goin out?
injector maybe?
white smoke means "not enough fuel right"?
i know my fuel tank is extremely dirty and somebody told me that that was gonna kill my fuel pump
HELP PLEASE =( i love my car, im already saving money for a SR but i need my daily working good for that:sadwavey:

Piston rings

if it was the piston ring, the smoke would be blue cuz itd be burning oil
be specific

its going to be your piston rings check your spark plugs and see how they look

do a compression test dont just pull the plugs wtf that gonna tell ohh theres oil ok from where if you need to know more about compression testing pm me
Yep.
Compression Test would be the decisive factor.
Did you properly torque the head studs back on when you replaced the head gasket?

Compression will only test compression ring... to really check for coolant passage leaks, you gotta do a leak down test...
but get this checked out before it gets worse..... if the coolant is mixing with the oil, that reduces lubrication properties of the oil and you will have more of a problem later on.....

thanks for all the replies
i changed my spark plugs today after work
they looked pretty bad
one of them had a "lil" bit of oil on the washer on the bottom of the thread
after i changed em at autozone i drove home and asked someone to step on the gas to see if there is still smoke anddddddd...........yes i was still there =(
i went to my friends a while ago and it seems like it stopped but i know its there!!!!!
im thinkin about gettin a fuel pump thinking that maybe im running lean but the smoke doesnt really smell =/ so idk
where can i get this "leak down test"?????
thanks to everyone in advanced

Leak down test can be done at ANY auto mechanic regardless of motor....
Are you losng coolant? Check your oil level all the time to double check if its mixing....
little oil at the base of the threads is really nothing, that is just valve cover inner seals....
White smoke is coolant PERIOD!!! Also check under your car, you could have a coolant leak as well and its burning on the downpipe... Run the car while jacked up and see if anything is leaking....(Sorry forgot to mention this earlier)

ima do these things tomorrow for sure
one thing i forgot to mention and idk if it matters, im running straight water, no coolant.
i cant really tell if my oil is mixing, a friend said if it is i should see lil bubbles of water in the oil, i didnt see any, the oil level seems normal so im just gonna try the leak down test.
just my luck, the mechanic i trust the most is gone all these week, crap =/
ima have to try with someone else.
did i already mention that it throws smoke specially when i kinda tap fast on the gas pedal, not if i just press on the gas pedal normally, oh and when i let go after giving it some gas. JUST WANTED TO MAKE IT CLEAR.
thanks alot for your patience SLIDER2828

i have this same problem on my dual cam. Smokes as start up, smokes while idling and sitting.
White smoke and i know im leaking oil past into my exhaust manifold (seen oil on it)
Valve stem seals/Ringlands.
I have an oil leak, oil is fine (no bubbles/no mixing) and not losing any coolant.

so im officially screwed!!!!!!!!!!
as i looked for any water leaks close to the exhaust, i saw mi oil pan "sweating"
i rev the car few times and i saw water bubbles on the tip on my exhaust =(
i check my oil and it DOES have lil bubbles in it too =(
it it my headgasket or piston rings???
OR BOTH!!!!!!!!!???????????
my day is ruined

It just sounds like a headgasket problem....
Redo it and don't reuse the headbolts, they are probably stretched out of tolerance....
I don't think you rings are jacked, so just do the head gasket with a metal headgasket and then get the oil system flushed, by just changing oil running it for a little and change the oil again.... Not too bad dun worry...
