sr running dead rich PLEASE help.

Hey guys I have a red top in my sr s13,yesterday driving 9n my lunch break my engine went dead rich,afrs were bottomed out at 10:1,car was black smoke,cutting out, missing,plugs were super black. Any suggestions why I'm running so rich?my car is stock,boost everything.can anyone suggest any tests I can do?pretty urgent its my daily :/

Only mods are exhaust,fmic, and hks bov. How can I check my 02?

This happened a couple times when I was running the stock side mount and it would blow the plastic piping loose.

Also happened because the ECU Coolant temp sensor went out.. if its not a boost, vacuum leak, when you start it whats the idle at, and does it slow down after a min or so?

yeah check your O2. bad O2 sensor causes bad spark plugs as well as running rich

It's reading richer than 10:1 even at idle,would I be able to cross reference a coolant temp sensor from autozone or something? also how do I check the 02?

you blew a IC pipe or your coolant temp sensor is junk. ka24 is same.

id place cash on it being inter cooler pipe.

The s13 coolant temp sensor can be replaced by a sentra = but not sure which one.. my s14a sr20det had to order a new one and ship here as I couldn't find a replacement for it

either u have a boost leak...or ur coolant temp took a crap

Alright guys it was the ect sensor, but now when I go under boost it loses power bad and starts sounding like a subaru, I guess missing. If I stay out of boost it runs just fine.oh and the afrs look good. Coilpack maybe? What do u guys think?

check your plugs... Sounds like one isn't firing.. might be fouled from when you were running so rich.. actually i'd replace them all anyhow

Same shit was going on with my s13 sr20det. What I figuered to do is replace my coil packs and it fixed the problem. A change of plugs would probably a good idea considering that you said there were all meet up.

check coilpack with a multimeter if there blow 1k of resistance then its bad...
it appened to my sr..changed all 4 and it was good....:hahano:
