what do I do, and in what order to properly polish my cars clearcoat??

tonight the paint guy who was working on my car was "buffing" the area he painted. I have a buffer too...what would I use (compound...?) and so on to make the rest of it shine?

thanks

im not gonna get into how to do it, but if you want to do a fantastic job get some of that zaino's stuff, its reallye xpensive but worth it. i think the site is zainobros.com im sure they have very specific instructions on how to properly use their products

and was he doing this between coats? this was likely to smoothe down the areas he was painting, to flatten the coats. painters do this to get the coats to bond as best they can and ensure a uniform coat. it also makes the shine come out better? im not sure thats a good explanation, but thats my understanding

I wouldnt touch a buffer if you have never used one before. You will end up ruining your paint.

Check out http://www.avalonracing.net there is lots of info on detailing. Id also suggest trying IBIZ Wax, its the best stuff I used next to good old 3M products.
