Hi Everyone, I just moved to LA 626 area.
I was wondering where's a good place to take my car to fix a few things on my s13 sr20. I want to hook up my AC completely, I dont have compressor condensor or anything that's needed. Also need to get my header rewelded since it is cracked bad and talk about possibility building my motor. I also need to redo alot of my wires since alot of minor things in the car is not working.
Thanks for the help ahead of time!
Mike

well have you guys talked to the owners of proto cause its not called proto anymore its called highline but yeah i havent dealt with them for a while so you guys probably have more knowledge of them even though i know one of the owners myself
maybe check out boso garage?????
g dimension ill look up but yeah different shops are good at different things but you just have to figure out what they are good at . i have good bounds with shogun style performance out here where i live and the owner matt knows his stuff and uses only the best stuff for his customers. So i would suggest to do your homework on shops personally and find out what each shop is good at doin
just my 2 cents

To be totally honest don't do g dem their really expensive and some of the work the do is kinda sketchy I'd say go to smoothlines in Alhambra super good work it's a little expensive but the owner Rick is stright up with u and usually he does all the work not like g dem were the owner tells the tech what to do ..I'm not tryin to hate on the shop or guys that work their but it's personal expirences that speak for them selfs

I will look around and see. G-dimension is the closest, so I might start with them.
Does anyone know is SP Engineering is good or not? I bought my car modded and the car was originally built by them. It has their custom top mount HKS GT2835r turbo and various other things. Its also tuned on HKS F Con Pro

SP Engineering has a great reputation, especially in the Supra community and now the Lambo community. But I believe they are a pretty pricy shop.
I don't know how far you're willing to travel but I take my car to Competition GT, a new shop in Costa Mesa (Orange County) and they performed my s14 sr20 swap. Mike is a really respected member of the Supra community and a very close friend of mine. Not the cheapest but great at what they do.

-Garage Boso is busy during Formula D season usually but they do great work.
-Theirs some local guys like Luis Fineline Tunings does awesome work he's located in Los Angeles , also charges reasonably for the great work he does.
-I had my swap done at G-dimensions, its been running fine but my lifter ticks very loud when i got my head rebuilt by them. Thats the only problem though with the swap other wise they do clean work.

If SP Engineering did your swap, you're lucky. Maybe they'll take you in since you're one of the cars they originally did. I was told by Phase2 that they've moved on to higher end cars (as stated above, supras/lambos...).

G-Dimension
Did my SR Swap like 2 years ago, and no problems at all since. Daily drive 30 miles to Torrance for work, did a few drift events, and all is well. After you get work done there once, they'll take care of you, make sure your car is running right etc. give you advice. Give 'em a visit and say what's up to James. He's probably the coolest, most honest shop owner I've ever ran into.
Totally NOT one of those shops that are like, "Thanks for your money, now get the f outta here." (and forget your name the next day)
(626)935-5888
located a couple blocks from Diamond Plaza in Rowland Heights
Also Shutoko Engineering.
They're competitors of G-Dimension just up the street, and I've never had any experiences there, but one of my friends is the mechanic at the place and works mainly on 240s
located off the Fullerton exit from the 60 fwy, past Valley blvd.

Thanks for the shout outs guys, I'm Jeff Jordan (Jordan Innovations) - most of what I do is electronics for Formula D/Redline Time Attack and Pro-Am cars.
I actually have a full KA24DE/SR20 AC setup leftover from my S14, but I'm not interested at the moment in doing the install... I'd be more than happy to sell it though.
I highly recommend Luis Gonzales for individual troubleshooting and fabrication jobs, he's been a friend and colleague of mine for years and really knows S-chassis' inside and out - and he's honest! Find him under Fineline Tuning in LA.

Took the trouble of looking up the review threads for some of the shops/businesses that people listed in the thread. Here you go, and you're welcome ;) :
G-Dimension:

Garage Boso:

Jeff Jordan (Originally a buyer review thread but kinda gets de-railed into a business review one):

Luis Gonzales (Multiple reviews -- picked the thread with the most replies):

Pit Garage:
http://zilvia.net/f/businesses/304262-pit-garage-south-el-monte.html
Couldn't find thread-specific titles for the businesses that I didn't list for you guys. These ones I listed are threads dedicated to the respective businesses.
Eh. It's friday. Killin some time and posting some crap that might make things easier for you foos.
On a side-note, it's hard finding a GOOD place to get work done, especially if you're new on the scene. Even if people say good things or bad things about a certain place, sometimes it's hard to take that as the final word, since practically every business' review is somewhat mixed. My recommendation... if you're looking to get work done by a particular shop or person, and whether you've heard good about them on the forum or not, make sure you've got some agreements on paper with some signatures or have some way to get your money back if shit hits the fan, aka credit card transactions and paypal. Keeps you a little bit safer man, especially if you're doing big money transactions.
Not to come off as some kind of know-it-all a-hole; this advice is just something based from my experiences.
