are you registered to run your car or are you just wanting to come to watch?..either way whatevs..lol..
from where you are in Salinas you will want to take the 152 East (or whatever way is easiest) to the 5 South..stay on the 5 south for about 2 hours and you will be there..when you pass Kettleman City you are about 20 or so minutes from there..i believe the exit for Buttonwillow Raceway is LERDO..however if you are arriving the night before, as i am, you will want to go about 5-10 miles past Lerdo and stay in a hotel off the HWY 58 or 56 or somethin (i am guessing from memory) exit...you can't miss it though..it has about 5 hotels and 6 gas stations and is the next exit with anything at all after you pass LERDO...
on a side note..the great thing about running at Buttonwillow is the price of gas...the gas stations around the hotels are a good 30-40 cents cheaper then anywhere else on the 5..just a nice little perk..
any Q's just ask..
:D

Tires are expensive or drifting is expensive.

wow... ..that is some serious track time..and in that heat..no wonder you went through a set of tires..i'm sure when it's 100+ outside, the track is around 115-120 degrees..then the friction with the tires..lol..yeah you could easily go through tires..
if you measured, how many psi did your tires jump during the day?
TRUENOCOUPE
08-06-2003, 02:36 PM
I had 40PSI all day but... The tires were AZENIS. Azenis don't have the greatest threadware but it was well worth it.
One thing is Im never going to use Azenis again since it gets too sticky after a few laps and I only have 100HP on my car. LOL
But atleast I got to practice doing fourth gear to third gear drift. Takes a lot to get a damn POS 86 going.

08-06-2003, 03:22 PM
yeah i feel ya on the HP thing..my car has 183,000 miles on it..so it's not exactly what it once was..lol..
damn..4th -> 3rd gear drifts..:D ..i've yet to get out of second..lol..
mrfox
08-06-2003, 04:14 PM
What gear do you guys take cotton corner in? 2nd or 3rd?
TRUENOCOUPE
08-07-2003, 10:03 AM
At the very first corner I take it from third then continue on to the next turn and down shift to second then continue on to the next turn on my second gear.
I take it from very high end third gear since I need all the high RPM on second gear for the next two turns when it goes up hills.
I only have 100HP to the wheels on my car, Maybe less. 86 sucks.
mrfox
08-07-2003, 03:24 PM
Right: 3rd
Left: 2nd
Hillcrest: 3rd?
I can never get that corner to feel right...

Thanks guys. I blew one of my tires during the second session so that said no more DORI DORI or MANJI whatever matchacallit drift thingy.
My exhaust fell off so my car was helllllaaaaa loud and was giving me a headache. I had a great time so thanks to Club4ag.com staff.
Who's Casper and what car was he driving? All I remember was a black 240 '97 and the driver was Calvin that was tearin it up.
Pruto - Thanks. I was there Tuesday then Saturday so I push myself a bit to get some good action but it wasn't enough. The 2 off wheel in one session was scaring me since I didn't want to get kick out but during the last session they cut our group hella early and I was getting a headache so I didn't wanna push my car too hard anymore.
Rich - I was the Orange Coupe. I don't think people could miss that orange. HAHAHHA But I know Alex and Mike but there car was like Red to me and hatches.
Janet - hehehe Thanks. You were doing great out there also with Nadine but you guys didn't really get sideways tho. Were you the one that got stuck and had to get pulled out? hahahah "they said it was a girl".
Slideways - Yup thats me. Im sponsored by MTSS, "umm" now.

Casper was the maroon zenki s14 with a kouki face conversion with gold wheels up front, silver three spoke advans in the back, and carbon fiber hood. You couldn't have missed him, he was doing really great out there.
Al: Yes yes, the retard was meee. hehe. I pushed it a little too hard, spun out, and got my two rear wheels off the track. It wasn't that bad, but my car had stalled and wouldn't start back up cause my starter was giving me trouble. The guys just pushed my car and it started right up. I wasn't getting sideways on Saturday cause it was my intention to just grip all day. I haven't gotten enough track time to want to try my hand at track drifting yet. :)
Don't believe everything itsybitsy says!! She can drift like no other chick I know... she sure beats me when it comes to track and street driving! She'll chase you down and munch on your exhaust tips if you can't stave her off... she'll kiss your plate if you brake too early... she'll nudge your towhook if you don't let her by on the straights! She's got mad skillz yo!
she so
im glad you guys had a good time. thanks for coming out...

o~~so i didn't make mistake this time
yes that's me... blue s13. that's my 2nd S13, the last one was lost in a battle with the wall. good to see you alot of people are getting good... i was watching u janet! good job! grip is the basic of drifting. u gotta respect the racing lines before you walk all over it. i dunno if you guys noticed, but i wasn't drifting... i was practicing grip/time attack. if you see me drifting it's because i'm frustrated with my time for that lap. hahahaha.. my way of venting out. oh... and my kidsheart tie rod got bent btw, that's why i was fighting for it in the 2nd session. so now... back to my reliable tein tie rods.
see ya guys!! janet.. keep it up! don't let the pressure of drifting get to you. grip it.. before you drift it.
