what's the deal with msd

is msd universal.. like there is a kit for 4 bangers, v-6, and so on?... or are they specified for a car, b/c my friend has one form his civic, and he started to install it, but only had the box in, and then he wrecked his car, anf he said he'd sell it to me for $100, so is it cool or what>?

MSD's will work with multiple applications, just get a different wiring harness/diagram. they use "pills" for cyl and rpm.
