okay so ive been having this problem with my ka for a while. i havent been able to directly source the problem. ive changed the fuel filter, plugs, cap, and rotor. no change. ive checked my fuel pressure and its off by quite a bit, its on 29psi w/ vaccum and same w/o vaccum and drops to 24psi at WOT. im not too sure what that means. a little help would be great.

If your fuel pressure is low, and gets LOWER with no vacuum applied (like at WOT)...you likely have a dead or dying fuel pump.

It should be ~34-36 at idle (depends on vacuum), and 43.5psi with the vacuum line disconnected from the FPR.

Replace the fuel pump.

thats what i was thinking but wanted to confirm it. thanks, and also if i get a walbro 255 i know my fuel pressure will be rich but how rich would it be if i run the stock regulator? or should i get an adjustable fpr just to be safe?

Im wondering the same thing!
I can never find the right answer
everybody comes up with diff answer but nobody says if its safe or not!

I ran a 255 on a bone stock ka. Then swapped it out for a stocker and no difference. Not in fuel pressure or milage. If fpr and injectors are good it shouldn't put more fuel in.

It's safe.
I have a wide band o2 which I use for tuning.
I had a stock fuel pump, and I thought it was bad so I replaced it with a walbro.
Turns out it was fine, but comparing before/after logs of my wbo2 and "pulls" there was no difference really, the walbro doesn't make you run richer.

It might cause more stress on your FPR causing it to die, but I don't think that's really true.

dont mean to thread jack but I am having a hesitation issue as well :-/. It seems more when its cold & mainly in 1st gear. My gas needle started fluctuating as of yesterday as well do you guys think it might be the pump? Its a 2 to 3 yr old Walbro.
