So there I am, after 4 grueling months of getting my motor in and too many kinks to name worked out, ready to finally lay down some numbers on the dyno.... and my clutch starts to give out.
:(

So... I'm flirting with which clutch to go with. Hypersingle or shell out the big bucks for a twin plate. I've heard compelling arguments for why i don't need the single plate, now lets hear some reasons why.

would do you guys recommend?

(2.2L b.c. SR., 500-550whp)

A super single is usually good for 400-450. Twin plates are usually good for 550-650. After that you will need triple plate. I have a a nismo twin plate for sale. I am selling it pretty cheap (the discs are kinda low, but still grabs great)...shipping to Canada might be a bit high, but I am sure it will still be cheaper than any other twin after everything is said and done. My twin plate is VERY streetable and VERY aggressive. I am currently using an ORC super single in my SR...its only about a 300hp motor though. The twin plate is over-kill for me. If you do plan on drifting your set-up, I would suggest upgrading driveshaft/axles as well. IMO you definately need a twin-plate.

Fuck upgrading the driveshaft and axles...if you still got an SR, time to upgrade the glass transmission.

I'm running an OS Giken TS2B on my SR, I was running an ORC 307 but that shit was slipping on me. Had an OS Giken set sitting in my storage that needed a rebuild so I went that route.

PS: Its not the HP that you worry about, its the torque. More torque the engine makes, the more clamping you need on the clutch.

I run a exedy Twin disk on my 800hp 600tq SR on the street and its great, i highly recommend it. i might be selling my whole Z32 trans/adaptor/drive shaft/shifter/and exedy twin soon so let meknow if you like..

exedy twin all the way. I like them better than the OS bc you dont nee to but the Adj fork to run them.

If you need a twin plate clutch...YOU NEED AN RB25/Z32 TT transmission. If you dont, time to stock pile SR/KA trannies like a muthafucka, specially if you plan on launching/dragging/drfting it.
