Today i noticed that my ka24de drops rpms when idling but i hear the radiator fan come on and after that the temp gauge rises a bit. When i drive the car the temp goes back to normal. I recently bought the car, 91 240sx with a swapped ka24de out of a 97. 90k on motor. The clutch fan was removed. Any thoughts on what it could be? Oh and yesterday as I was timing it I noticed it did the same thing and the radiator fan would come on and this blast of hot air would come from the engine bay.

Only thing I can think of is a failing water pump.

drops RPM when idling? where does your car idle @? everything sounds pretty normal to me.

Fan comes on when temp rises.

and the last part. It suppose to do that, the fan is suppose to suck in fresh air from the front of the car to cool the radiator fins and well it has to escape somewhere... the engine bay..

everything is normal from your silly description. If you want to be extra safe with your motor overheating, replace your radiator, fan, hoses, thermostat and water pump. to some new one and aftermarket parts.

My car idles at 750rpms. It only drops in rpms when the fan comes on. So i dont know if its some kind of power issue? I plan to replace the whole cooling system. I've had over heating issues before and it didnt end very well i think im just being paranoid

usually if something electric comes on,FAN, A/c, headlight etc.. RPM drops but goes right back up again...

maybe your gonna start having issue with alternator or battery real soon
