Steering rack boot and tension rod pillowball life

How long do they last? I replaced my steering rack with a Ebay remanufactured one about half a year ago (the unit came with the inner tie rods and boots). However, when I was check for suspension noise (thought it is just caused by non-greased polyurethane steering rack bushing), I could not believe them boots are ripped already. I was wondering how long should they last?

Also, I have some Ebay tension rods on the car now, and they are about 4 years old (used on my S13 before). How long do those pillowball usually last? Will they start making noise when they are on their way out?
