i love the look of a dished steering wheel, it is so inspired by motorsport. it allows for more knee room for heel-toe.Anyways, being a tall guy over 6 foot i would like to maintain the steering wheel a good distance from my body for daily driving comfort.
Does a dished wheel bring the wheel position too close for tall drivers? i would not be using a quick release or pivot... just a plain hub adapter.

I have a regular hub with that same deep corn Nardi 350 and it brought it noticably farther out than a stock wheel.

yes it does sit noticably closer. Im 6 feet tall and i love my deep dish wheel. you can sit farther back for more leg room and still have the wheel close enough. perfect for tall drivers imo

Bucket tilted all the way back, with a wheel spacer, dished wheel, quick release, AND hub. I dig it so much.

using it with a cheapo "HKB" china pot metal hub. been workin fine for over 2 years.
I'm 5'9 and the wheel sits pretty close to me, but it's not uncomfortable...probably would be too close with a quick release though.

I have a deep dish wheel, ebay hub, and ebay QR and I love how close it sits.
I'm 6'4" - 6'5" and can put the seat all the way back and the wheel is still in a good position. I have plenty of leg room to do some interesting foot work, and when I tilt the column all the way up I can get out without a problem.

I have a nrg quick release with a nardi 350 deep corn and it sits a little too close for comfort with my bride bucket. I'm 6' 1". I might try just an adapter with no quick release to see if i like that distance better. What would make more of a difference, switching from quick release to just and adapter or switching from the 350 deep corn to the 330 dished nardi wheel?

This(minus the wheel spacer).

The steering wheel sits waaaay closer to you compared to stock(just luck how much further it is from the trim piece), but it's not that bad. Just tilted my seat back a bit and done.
Took a few days to get used to sitting like that (used to sitting in an upright position), but all good now.

works bell hub + NRG v2.0 quick release + nardi 330mm deep corn. I'm 5'7 and it works well. The zeros is such a deep bucket though, that the MO rail is the farthest forward, yet my legs JUST reach the floorpan fully extended

theres already a steering wheel thread.
yes i searched that thread after considering a new wheel. this thread is about tall drivers and close steering wheels. awesome vertex wheel!! how much is that? a nardi runs 300 anyways....

ditching the QR would push the wheel 2-3 inches away from you.... the nardi 330 has approx. 1 inch less offset than the 350 and is smaller in diameter for more leg room... i call ur 350 if you switch up lol
good input guys!! will a nardi wheel bolt directly to a nrg short hub? or only to their QR's? a short hub would keep the wheel approx 1 inch further away than a HKB or Woks Bell...

I am also running a nrg short hub+ebay nrg thin quick release style knockoff+350mm Nardi deep corn and wanted to ask if anyone can recommend a good SHORT quick release.
The ebay knockoff quick release I have now has some play and its driving me nuts, a friend of mine had the original nrg thin quickrelease and it had some small play in it as well. Any recommendations?

Anyone have any tips on sealing it up, i have 2 chips in the paint and i dont want them to get bigger with daily use. I was thinking some crazy glue to make everything glued, then clear nail polish??? IDEAS?

Yeah I also run a momo hub plus quick release full sized plus deep dished 350mm wheel, it gives you more leverage for throwing the wheel and I love it for daily too, me being 5'11".
a good friend of mine that's 6'2" runs a nrg short hub with normal size quick release and deep dished wheel and it's not deep enough for him.

circuit sports short hub and NRG 2.0 quick release, i'll be honest it pushes it pretty close to my chest, it was super noticeable to the point where i almost didn't like it when i first did it but i got used to it and after my first event with that set up i love it, although i am a short bitch i'm only 5'5" haha

I actually have nothing at the Moment. The stock wheel distance in my R33 is roughly the same, if not the same, as that of the S14. I'm picking up the NRG short hub tonight, then finishing it off with this bad boy:
http://www.sillbeer.com/images/interior/sparco-90mm-dish.jpg
It's the sparco 215, 350mm, 3 inch dish.
This setup should sit the steering wheel around the factory distance, and at 6 foot without a bucket seat I'm sure it will be fine for now. In the future i'd consider the NRG short quick release also.
My 350mm Nardi + Works Bell regular hub sits about an inch or so closer than stock I think.
http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm218/Razi11/IMG_6609.jpg
I'm about 5'10" and it's a pretty good distance, but I'm thinking about buying a Works Bell 15mm spacer off of eBay and putting it closer to me.

Damn the guys in this thread make me feel like a giant. I won't post pics of my set up cause it would be of no use seeing as I have a z32... but i have a nardi 330mm deep corn wheel with a nrg hub and v2 quick release.
