Cold Front Hit Kansas and I was on the way home and busted a 180 going about 25 mph and was facing traffic. Good thing there was none though.

welcome to the world of RWD in snow...and it's been a thorn in my side ever since i came here...only suggestion i can give you is drive carefully and practice some empty parking lots...infinite donuts are fun in empty parking lots too...

hey not that im saying its a great winter car.. but.. i live in iowa and i dont ever store my car... we had an 11 inch snow storm and i drove him with 8 inches of it on the ground up a big hill.. i went up the hill kinda sideways because i dont have both wheels spinning but i love the 240 in the snow because i can make it powerslide when ever i want to and scare my passengers to death HAHA!! or i can just drive normal and not have a problem... i never see anyone say that they dont have a problem driving in the snow.. only people complaining about our cars in the snow...just my thoughts.. dont pay attention to me

I didn't have much trouble in the snow. . . Woulda been easier in the Sentra, but definitely doable

I found putting some sandbags in the trunk helped a bit. There are mixed opinions about this, but i think its worth it. It makes it less likely to start a skid, but harder to control if you do get in one.

If you think thats bad I was in my dads F-250 while it was raining (he was driving) and we went to get on the freeway and the truck just started sliding out so my dad quickly corrected and put in in 4WD till we were goin on the freeway. Apparently the truck doesn't have very good traction untill you put a decent load in the bed.

What are you talking about, the 240 is a great winter car!

Well not really, but with snow tires its not bad at all.

It just snowed here too.

Yea if you life to drift and know how to it is good, you think a 240 is hard, A OLD MONTE CARLO, freaking boat, and yes i can drift on the ice with it, and yes, i have been in the ditch 6 times, and no IM NOT INSANE

Ok, i can drive my car well and recover from almost any situation. (I got this from driving around a 515 hp corvette with 315's on the back) I'm driving my 240 to michigan (from florida)
What are the odds of me falling off a mountain? Does someone keep the interstate roads clean of snow/ice?

Yeahy experience with the 240 in the limited snow we have had round boston has been okay. Take it easy stay in lower gears, dont accelerate to hard and the thing can be controled to a degree.

BEEN THERE!! Ah, yes, the ol' Monte. For all of you on the east coast, I drove one of those about 40 miles or so through hurricane Floyd. I thought I was going to die.

Fun though.

I love it. It gets harry when you push the gas at 35-40 in 4th gear and the ass still drops on you... but whatever. I like it, once I got used to how it slides I found it easier through the turns. It just sucks when you stop and it doesn't want to start again.

Very True!! its not too bad while your moving (once you get used to it) but when you stop, make sure your not on an incline at all!! i've spun my tires on the smallest little incline and barley got out,. and ice, omg. its fun though!!

Let me revise your equation

240 + summer tires = bad winter car

240 + winter tires = the easiest car i've driven in winter so far compared to fwd cars with all season tires (i did drive an awd subaru and that kicked ass, 3k clutch drops and it just takes off even in snow, but it wasn't mine).

I guarantee you if you were to invest in some winter tires, driving in snow would be much less of an issue, With my Arctic Aplins on, below 30mph I would have to try pretty hard to slide my car in snow and if i do, correcting it is just as easy. Now with my all seasons back on, I can swing the back end out without much effort, but it is still drivable, just requires more concentration and smoother inputs. You wouldn't take your 240 to the track with snow tires on, so don't drive in the snow with summer or "all seasons" on and expect stellar performance.

Nitekids- to pull a 180 like that you did something wrong, a car travelling forward in neutral will continue in a straight line unless you hit something or add gas, the brakes, or turn, so it was something you did to provoke the spin. Go practice controlling a skid in a parking lot somewhere, so the next time it happens on the street you know how to recover.

Um everything I've ever read has said that in snow/rain keep it in the highest gear posible without bogging down the engine. Makes sense too, because in a lower gear, you have too much available torque, and when you let off, the engine breaking can be severe enough to break loose the tires.

So in an emergency situation, you'd oversteer hard, then let off the throttle and understeer back the other way with your wheels locked. Not fun.

Snow driving can be bad, if you don't pay attention. I kept my Toyo Proxies on all winter. I did fine. Well, I would easily lose traction on corners, but it was easily kept under control. Other than that, I learned quite a bit about winter driving this year.
