When I start the car, it starts but dies right after.
Sometimes, it will idle for a bit before it dies.
recently replaced:
spark plugs
distributor
cap and rotor
spark plug wires
prior to this problem,
the car would run but misfire on part throttle acceleration.
so i replaced the distributor.
today i noticed i had a fuel leak after the filter,
where you connect it to the hard line.
so i fixed the leak and now the car doesnt want to stay on.
i can keep it alive if i give it gas but the car runs retardedly rich.
Can someone please tell me what this could be?
I was thinking injector seals?

Disconnect your vaccum line to your Fuel pressure regulator and does it idle after that?
note - doing this method dont drive your vehicle hard, its a diagnostic only.

My car does something similar to this. The check engine is on as well. After running it through the scanner it said it was the Mass Air Flow Sensor.
I replaced that and nothing happened. It still did the same thing...

I would try that but....
I just did a couple things.
UPDATE
i replaced the injector seals.
car idles now but vacuum is reading low at -17psi
car runs with or without the maf plugged in
so that rules out the maf.
Im thinking my next step should be:
-recheck for a vacuum leak
-compression test the motor.
Anyone else have any insight and want to point me in the right direction?

is this for a KAE OR KADE?

If you have a vacuum leak you can find it by spraying brake cleaner on the vacuum lines. The motor will react to the brake cleaner being ingested.

Will it stay on if the throttle body is open!
If it dies when closed check your idle air control valve

did you put the distributor in the right way ? (unless its only one way on the ka24de)

I tried this already with no luck.
I am gonna try to find a way to leakdown test it or similar.

car doesnt die on idle anymore.

yes, i am quite competent.
I have changed out distributors plenty of times before.

does it only do it sometimes when the car is cold or all the time? it sounds like the IAC as mentioned above

Check the codes and see what pops up,Even though you replaced most the spark related parts prior this sounds more like a fuel issue then a spark issue but also does sound just like how a car runs with a faulty maf but what I dont get is you said the mafs ruled out because when you unplugg the maf harness the car runs the same correct?Wouldnt that indicate the mafs faulty?maybe I read it wrong,Also do you have a fuel pressure guage to check your static/idle fuel pressure?
Your running 17hgs/in vacuum thats good vacuum but I would still vacuum leak test for tiny leaks with a home made $10 dollar boost leak tester,It will detect it so much better then using carb cleaner, carb cleaner and starting fluid never really works well for me for vacuum leaks.
If you get bored I found a few write ups on cleaning your maf and iacv, they sell maf cleaner at autozone (which the main ingredient is tetrachloroethylene same as brake cleaner lol go figure),grab a soft brissle brush for the maf and clean it up,Heres a write up,its for a sentra but same applies(there was a better writeup but cant find it) just be very carful with that wire on maf,

You can be a little more careless with cleaning the iacv since its basically a spring loaded sensor. Also not sure if yours is located in the same spot as the sr20det if not oh well I did my part.

good luck.

when the computer reads a faulty maf it doesnt meen for certain the mafs bad per say, could be just the wiring or really clogged air cleaner ect ect since you replaced the maf and it didnt work but its throwing the code now you need to make sure you have voltage and continuity, the MAF voltage should be 12v on the power wire and 5v on the signal wire the all black wire is the ground so check continuity.
I'm not trying to be mr smart guy just wanted to throw that in there,Good luck to your maf issue.

SOunds similar to what my car is doing i think its my injector seals I sprayed cleaner and the motor spiked replaced the intake manifold gasket nothing changed so it must be the injector seals!
Does any one have a set of new or hardly used injector seals?? I heard the are the same for both te sr and ka24de motors. I have a ka24de s14
Can you send me a pm
