I have a 93 240sx its pretty much stock besides rims and custom exhaust. But i just got a rebuilt engine and iam hearing a knock in the top end of the motor.. I was told by a friend it is either lifters or camshaft.. Could there be adjustments made to either to make that damn knock go away..
Thanks for your time....

When do you hear it? ( all the time? just at idle? is it engine speed sensitive?) If its a rattle at idle then chances are its the timing chain hitting the guides. The 2 upper timing chain guides are a flaw in the S13 DOHC motors and can be removed to fix this problem. If you do a search you should find alot of info on this topic as it is a very common problem on 240's.

The knock sound is a all the time deal. And i notice it at idle or when iam pulling into a driveway and iam going slow enough i can hear the engine. IT drives me crazy i hate the sound. My friends have a civic si and a eclipse rs ..they tease me all the time about how ****ty it sounds but i still have enough balls to smoke those boys..HAha i love 240's..
Thanks for the help...

the most extreme case is valve knock, when the timing goes to ****, best thing to do is bring it into someone
