a few buddies of mine and i were wondering what JDM importers were good. Whos had good luck on what sites? Ive been looking up alot of places lately. So if ya could just throw out some input and web addresses and what places do compression tests, if you got a good motor from the place or a bad motor. We are looking for around 2 or 3 RB20's so a site with a good quantity of RB's would be good as well. Thanks and id appretiate the information. Braxton

I don't know if all of those places are still around.
This was found by typing in "front clip" in advanced search mode.
Phase2motortrend is probably one of the most reliable and reputable places that sells them and other swaps. They're kind of expensive though.
Nice first thread (or one of your first ones) to begin your stay on here.
This thread is going to be locked, but I thought it might be nice to actually answer your question so that hopefully another new user might find the answer to their same question in the future.
Oh, by the way. Next time search.

yeah but. your looking for a rwd one.. rb20s are decent motors but their cheap, save the extra cahs and get a 25..

Marco is top notch and has been in business longer than some Zilvians have been alive. He doesn't have the lowest prices because he has the highest quality.

if you are going to have a 2 litre engine buy and sr, its a lot cheaper simpler swap and has a lot more aftermarket support than the rb20 if you are going with an rb get a 25 or 26, but honestly the most power for your money in stock form like hp per dollar is the jz family from toyota or an ls series motor ls1 ls2 ls3 yada yada yada
my motor/swap came through jeimportperformance and when it blew up within 30 days of getting the swap done i was told that my stock motor swap was a race part and therefor not warrantied

I get most my motors from Nippon. All the motors that i have bought have been nice and clean. Even sent friends there and there motors were nice also.
They have more in stock then what they have on there web site so i would call them.

I agree, my friend bought a 3rd gen mr2 turbo motor(3SGTE) that was perfect in everyway possible, except for being brand new.

always buy motor from places you can deal with face to face.
even if you have to drive a few hours.
your motor is not new, they just steam wash the hell out of it.

EliteJDM is Rad.
They don't sell junk. You pay a bit more for it, but it's good stuff and Nick Stands Behind every motor he sells.
But, seeing that you're in South Dakota shipping may get a bit pricey for you.

i was looking at some RB25s as well but for the mountains around here i dont need much more than an RB20. I wasnt looking at modding the motor all to much at all, was just gonna keep it stock really. and i am definatly not doing a LS swap lol i dont want a v8 in my car. and i debated on a 2jzge cause my buddy here had one for sale for 350 and it just needed new rod bearings but it was an automatic out of an aristo, so id have to get the transmission, custom drive shaft, make my own or buy mounting hardware, and id run into the same problems with the 2jz as i would the RB20 like the tach readout from a 4 cylinder to a 6 cylinder and getting it all mounted.

Im not all to worried about the shipping as much as i am the quality of the engine. i just got a bit of money to put into my s13 240sx truck im building. Just sold my TII FC Vert. Oh has anyone gone through Tiger Japan? just wondering cause i was looking on there and they have reasonable prices and motors, transmissions, and front clips seem in pretty good shape.

jdmsource...they send you exact pics and compression test results, and i can verify the compression test because on my rb20 the clamps to hold the vaccum lines were all loose...lol

I'm with the people who said SR20Store. Marco stand up guy, sent me all info on my front clip, with photo's of the compression test. When I got there I asked to verify the compression again and w/o a word he re-did the test for me.
Car wouldn't start the next day when I got it back, called Marco at 10 am, he was AT my house within the hour to fix the car.

Dewey is a great guy up at JDMHookUp. I've driven there to pick up my S13 Silvia conversion, when I got there (8 hrs drive) he let me pick out the cleanest hood, fenders, and Aero bumper to take home.
Dewey FTW!

Oh hell no! Do a search. Cheap prices 5 years ago, horrid service, questionable parts and know for screwing up your order.
Missing parts, cut/damaged harnesses, broken sensors...stay away.
Really any American buyer should avoid buying from Canada. This is because of the huge PITA with customs delays, increased shipping costs and it's much harder to get credit card refunds. Early on, there where a ton of fly by night Canadian importers that would send you a FWD SRs, or ship RWD ones with auto trans, missing ECU or DE engines with a blown turbo tossed on the pallet et al. Near impossible to tract them down and get a refund.

Worked with all three, fantastic. My current motor is from G-Dimension, but I bought it from a Zilvia member. So props to G-Dimension for selling a solid motor, and props to MidwestMyriad for taking care of it and being a legit seller!
