View Full Version : Anyone see Modified's USCC article.

Well tonight when i was taking my nightly BM, i sat upon my throne to read a little modified magazine as a did my business. to my surprise i came across this.......

"Having just wrapped up our annual Modified Tuner Shootout (check out next month's issue for the full story), it got me thinking about the Ultimate Street Car Challenge and how Modified was supposed to take over the event from Sport Compact Car.

I never abandoned the notion of doing another USCC, but one thing led to another (I'll partially blame the economy) and all of a sudden the funding to put a high-status event together has become very hard to secure. Nevertheless, it's been sitting quietly and patiently on my back burner waiting for me to get to it.

After watching all the fastest race cars compete at our shootout, I'm more determined than ever to bring USCC back to be an event for some of the fastest street cars in the nation. However i want to take it up a notch. Instead of just picking 10 to 12 of the fastest cars from submissions, i want to up the stakes and have online forums participate and pick their best cars to compete against each other. It's time for all the keyboard racers who've been claiming they have the fastest cars out there to man up and put their money where there mouths are.

My goal is to reach out to all the major car forums - zilva.net, my350z.com, evorm.net, nasioc.com, s2ki.com, honda-tech.com, nagtroc.org and many more - in hopes of finding the best built and fastest street cars to compete in what will now be known as the Ultimate Forum Street Car Challenge.

It's been too long since a real event has brought the most popular platforms in our market together to test them against each other. I'm not talking about race cars, that's what our Tuner Shootout is for - this event has to be legit road-legal cars that can and will be driven on the street.

Before i start getting hate mail about how a GT-R will crush a Civic, remember that we'll be factoring in elements such as cost into the equation, but who wouldn't want to see Civic beat a GT-R anyway? It's possible, and there's only one way to find out.

In the coming months, you will hopefully see a post on your car forum about this competition; if you think we may miss you, then by all means email me directly ([email protected]) and provide the name and link to your forum. Please don't include local forums - I realize there are plenty of extremely fast cars on those forums, but if we include one then we have to include them all.

Ideally, it will be up to the users on the forums to choose the car that will represent them, but we reserve the right to reject cars that we think aren't true street cars. I hope the response for this challenge will be favorable rather than lacking. There's too much bench racing online - now there will be venue to lay it all to rest and prove it in the driver seat and a heavy foot rather then behind a computer."

I love the idea!! Forum vs. Forum. The only deal I can see being an issue is fighting amongst the board members on which cars will be selected to represent the community. Do we send a GTR automatically? Do we select 5 cars from people who can make this event and vote? If we do that who chooses the 5 vehicles? I guess the moderators will have to step in and make the first selections based on email/pm's from owners who can properly rep the forum. I would like to have a vote either way of who will go. I think this would generate more than just awesome street cars, it will generate interest among most community members and probably some spectators. I hope this happens.

Zilvia.net Shootout....

^^^ agreed, have a shoot out..tho it would be hard seeing as zilvia.net is nation wide, but what other method is better then seeing a someones car in action?!....

I mean actual video footage might work of someones car rolling up to a drag strip and recording there beat 1/4mile times...but then again what if it's a Time attack time trial type grip race...what then?

This seems very interesting. When or if this happens, hopefully they have it on tv or at least a live feed on the internet for all to watch. Can't wait to hear more about this.

His car is nice, but for a street car shootout, I'd pick a more experienced driver with a faster car. A couple people come to mind. Gotta see if they would be up to it. Someone on this forum would have to organize the car/ driver picking.

no offense fellas :P Zilvia is the mothership of flat spraybombed paint, giant rims with stretched tires, excess camber and slammed beyond the framerail style while parked at a local coffee shop or your mama's house :D

Thats a toughie...wouldnt it depend on what they're gonna put the car thru. Track car, I say Red Square's car would be more efficient since the car has better power band. I just see Roid's car destroying the straight a ways but falling off the power band around corners will kill it....

way to prove zilvias maturity level in a otherwise civil thread.

The three cars previously suggested are all sick int their own rights. But We (as a forum) have to remember that it has to be a good all around car. The fact that we are entering a S-chassis puts you in a lower tax bracket from the gate. The thing is you have to remember all the other categories, like gas milage, comfort, road course, drag times. total HP. all that.

Id be surprised if very many of you even remember the original USCC shootouts

His car is fast. Plus the more time he has behind the wheel the better he will get. Watch the video's on the last page of his build thread he was doing good.

there is always a better car and im shure there is one on here. But rite now i think he has the only running grip/street car that would be up to the challenge.

Lets just pick 5 cars from zilvia. Then make a poll for those 5 cars and go from there.

I'm curious on how the magazine intends to deem a car "street legal." Probably 99% of the cars on here capable of competing in something like this would technically not be street legal.

Also, here's an idea... It might be a little late notice, but maybe there could be some sort of shootout or possible candidates on display at the upcoming convention!....just an idea.
