My car has had a myriad of problems. Initially it was overheating like crazy thanks to the freezeplug in the back going out, I replaced that got the car all buttoned up and I am still having issues. When I go to start the car it can take up to two minutes to start it, you have to hit the gas all the way and sit there and let it crank and you can hear/feel it build until it finally starts. Once started the car will idle with the ac on, and sometimes just by itself. After running for 4-5 minutes I'll start to get really bad valve clatter that only happens on acceleration and it will get progressively worse and I will start to lose power. The engine is extremely hot to the touch but the temps on the gauge are fine and it has that hot engine smell really bad (if you know what I'm talking about).

WHAT I'VE TRIED

comp test (came out ok)
replacing wires
replacing spark plugs
injector cleaner
checking timing

I really have no idea whats up with the car ATM, I'm going to pull the codes to see if that can clue me in but I doubt it'll help much. Any input is appreciated.
