well i finaly got to take the car out on the new suspention and wheels the suspention is nice and tight but a real comfotable ride. I havent been able to realy push it and test it out yet cause i havent driven the car for about 3 months. But its a real comfotable ride i have the AGX shocks set at 4 in the rear and 2 in the front.
The front coilovers are all the way down and i have a 1" gap from the top of the tire to the wheel well
and in the rear i have the coilover all the way up and there is a 1 1/2" gap looks real nice
I will be able to have pix up tomorrow once i get up and get them to DSC

####! Nice Enkei RSF's. My friend got those on his Prelude. Nice car man, looks a lot better without those graphics, but that's just me. All you need are some side skirts and a rear skirt and you're set! I dig the smoked lenses, they fit the car really well.

#### - your car is looking nice!! Like the look w/ the black roof and w/o the graphics. Very clean!

I would guess those are the rear springs you gave the rate for? Should mean 180lbs/in is the rate - the other two numbers are for lenth and diameter (but I forget which is which). I take it you got the standard length/rate?

my240likenoother

the spring is realy short
and yay that was the rear rate i cant realy see the front unless i jack it up and it is a pain in that ass

but i have a question for the peeps that have agx ajustabls
do they bounce/ bottem out
my rear end is kinda bouncy and ther shock is a little sqeaking noise??

how do u like the ride compared to springs? Im hopin to own a 240 within the next few months and i want to work suspension probably first. I was weighin the options of springs vs the ground controls. I've heard that most springs only come with like a 1.3" drop or somethin, but i like less gap then that. So how u like the ground controls and where u get em?

1. Yeah - GC/Eibach springs are waaay shorter than factory. They should be b/n 7 and 9 inches, depending on what they sent you. I'd guess, from other GC kits, that the fronts would be about 210 lbs/in. Actually, I heard they are now making them for s14's so I may be joining you soon *crosses fingers*
2. As for the shocks - I had AGX's on my last car and they were awsome. Same body as GAB's, but only slightly different valving. You should have penty of shock for that spring (i.e., it shouldn't blow - I ran AGXs w/ 380/450 rates on a Civic w/ no problems). Bottoming, however, can be a problem w/ any shock if you get carried away lowering the car. From the sounds of it, you are in the safe range. Best way to tell is to look at how much shock rod is exposed when the car is on the ground. YOu need at least 1.25" for any decent ride quality - Any lower and you are almost on the bump stops (there's only about 2.5 inches of travel stock unless you get short stroke shocks). The lower you go, the more likely you are to bottom.
3. Never heard of AGX's squeaking - might be a bushing/mount issue. You may try lowering the shock setting to take out the bounce.

When I called GC, they said the lowest spring rate they could supply with S13 is 350lbs/in, cause the the springs are so short. Also they go by 25s so i dont think 180 is the spring rate.

Good catch. It begs the question though of F or R? The R springs are no different from those by other manufacturers (similar length & diameter), the fronts are another story. Usually the Eibach numbers are rate.dia.length - but perhaps due to the unique nature here, they are different. I DO know, however, that there are rates beyond those in 25's b/c I used to have 380s in my Civic (custom rate) (alledgedly, these were "semi-progressive" in that only the last few coils were spun to 380 and the rest were 375).

DuffMan
02-26-2002, 03:23 PM
Ah, so thats what they mean by "semi-progressive"

I talked to Ground Control today. Your spring rates are most likely 450 front 250 rear thats what the usually sell 240sx owners. Its what my friend Gary has on his 95 track car.
Anyways I asked them about the squeaking and they said you should call them.
I am thinking about going that way down the road. for now I am getting AGX's and running HKS springs after my Turbo install I will do the coilover part.

What brand is your buddy running w/ those rates. I heard that GC was going to make an s14 kit - but haven't heard it's out yet? Are they GC's?

I also would recommend to anyone getting GC springs to custom order their rates. If you look on the installs page you will notice that all of those springs follow the "80% rule." This means that the higher rates should be at least 80% of the lower. This seems only more true on a car w/ 52/48 weight distribution. IMHO, those rear rates are too soft (actually, the fronts are probably too heavy). For me, this topic is making more questions than answers...

Gary has Ground Controls on his S14 track car sporting a RB25 hehehe. He is using Koni's because there are no AGX's for S14's
and yes the two most cool things about Ground Control are they are right here in Cali so service is not an issue should an insert or strut fail. also the other part is the adjustable spring rates which pretty much means you can custom tune your suspension completely. that in my book pretty much blows away any other coil overs on the market. I know of a guy at Ground control that is getting Tokico HTS's for his AE86 and putting on the Ground control setup on them. that should be a pretty dope ass setup.
