never..

There will always be some new kid wanting parts. The Drift Bandwagon will go on for a long time. I see parts getting cheaper because there are so many of them.

They will stop when the Toyota FT-86, Subaru rwd car, Nissan whatever-2door sports coupe, and any other cheap rwd cars come out. Plus the genesis will be even cheaper in the future (I don't know how well Hyundai holds their value). I give it 5 years until they start charging crazy prices for parts. For example, the AE86 still has a lot of aftermarket support, but finding stock parts like doors, fenders, gauge cluster, interior, etc is hard cause junkyards would rather sell these 20+ year old cars for scrap metal than keep them.

Also, the aftermarket support is going to open up for the new sports cars. 16 year old kids wouldn't want to buy a broken down 240 anymore when they have the option of a used 2000-2005 350z, subaru wrx, g35, and those other cars that high school kids love. I believe that the age range between 20-30 like these cars (240sx's, civics, etc). It's like how old guys like the old school muscle cars. People in their high 20's to 30's like the supra, rx7, datsun z's, and other cars of the 80's and 90's. and the younger generation likes the 350z's, evo, sti's, and all those other cars of the 2000's+.

Whenever drifting dies off. So hold on to your 240s because they are being wrecked everyday and will soon become rare!

240=drifting.

As long as drifting still trendy, companies will keep selling modified parts.

when 350z's become super dirt cheap. people will move onto a different chassis and start playing with that.

Those things have nothing to do with it.

Honda parts still sell, and there are newer and cheaper FF cars.

Same with older cars.

Once demand goes down, so will production. But it won't be happening any time soon.

as long as there is money to spend and the cars are not outlawed. they will continue to have an aftermarket, racing will never die. People still race corollas and 510's from 1969

They (mfgs) probably won't disappear forever just shrink in numbers. As other cars like the genesis, 370z and ft86 become affordable to the masses in used car prices in 4-7 years the current manufactuers that make 240sx parts will focus more and more on those.

Since so many years have gone by since the last 240 came out, even if a new one does come out it will be all new so their won't be much chance for any backward parts compatibility either.

whenever everyone starts to move to new platforms (as it was already stated)

there is a great crowd for the 240 that really like the car, the lines, and the capabilities, as well as ability to do ANYTHING with it.

then, there is a crowd like me, who are only using the 240 as a means to learn how to drift, since parts are cheap, easy to find, and it's a well balanced car. When I get the money, I fully intend to move to either a z33, or a s197.

so i guess to answer the question, in the next 3-5 years I expect a sharp decline in after market parts for the 240

Drifting will die out in 2 years. Most of you will go onto jumping cars on fire through outerspace while drinking Rockstar Energy Drinks.

stupid trend whores.

reality is, probably never. Look how much 'new' stuff became available for the 510s, z's, skylines, s12's in the past few years. There will always be stuff for our cars. Actually I hope the 'Trend' goes way, so all of you can start selling your stuff for cheap.

Parts are already dirt cheap and extremely easy to get compared to how it was way back when.

Not anytime soon. Like others have said, people will continue to crash them and people will continue to build them. Cheap, easy to work on, and rwd. Winning combo.

But we also have to consider the aspect that we've only got... that? 10 years of S-chasis' here in the states. There's a general "duh factor" to say that there's only a finite number of 240's out there. However many Nissan made, subtract how many have been completely destroyed by over the last 20 years. Plus how many are currently being wrecked beyond repair through drifting as well as casual driving and wrecks. I give it 10 more years, if not less and then seeing a 240 will become as rare as seeing an ae86. People think it's bad now to see a busted ass stock s13 sell for 2 grand with a blown headgasket, just wait a couple of years when there's less of 'em to buy.

You people are stupid if you think that 240's are rare or something.

They are still a dime a dozen.

When the Chinese move on and we're left with only the true, quality companies, part's production will diminish, but never cease to be. Only make a smaller more enthusiast community and parts base.

zenki.life
06-14-2010, 02:59 AM
our community will die when enough kids take over to cause the real aftermarket companies(ie, apexi, HKS, ect ect) to want to pull out because people will cheap out and buy to many shit brand parts(ie godspeed, megan, autozone ect ect). They will see it as a loss and screw the rest of us. hopefully the rest of us will learn how to fabricate. we see where the community has come to now. its sad, pitiful and disgusting. and i blame ignorance.

vqdreaming
06-14-2010, 03:18 AM
it will never completely die out, look at muscle cars there's still an aftermarket for them it might go to very small but then ppl will be like oh shit remember when 240s were really popular lets build one again and the market will rise again if theres enough of them left.

DenkiMan!
06-14-2010, 12:25 PM
^^ yea and the corolla market hasnt quite died out yet either. theres no reason for the 240 market to die out anytime soon. in fact it could be argued its getting bigger since the popularity of drifting is also getting bigger and since this isnt japan, people dont have that much of a cheaper option if they want to start drifting

stupid thread. theres still alot of z's or c-skylines. it will not die.
they may get rarer and rarer, but they wont die out.
maybe they just will become all time classics or stuff like the old z is or or so... IMO
oh wait, theres still alot of ford t-buckets and stuff so... i wont see any dead soon.
especially its alot of car for almost nothing IMO
