View Full Version : how to remove spl v1 solid subframe bushings?
these are the ones that slip over the top and bottom and are pressed in or hammered in. there is a 1/2" gap inside between the two piece where i could slip something inside and tap it out but it is in there pretty good.
any tips or advice?
thanks

Why would you do this? Just sell the subframe and get a stock one or something.

Agreed. I'm sure someone would be more than willing to buy it with bushings already pressed in.
I sold an S13 subframe with bushings removed for more than a stock one with bushings goes for.
Most people are too lazy to remove the bushings themselves.

I'd say you're fucked. IF you try and use a press and press them out you risk the chance of fucking up the very thin metal around the bushing or tweaking the subframe.
New one or bust.

If you were closer, I'd straight trade subframes with you. :)

Is this for an S14 or 13? I'm interested in trading subframes if you are. Though I am curious as to why you want to remove them in the first place.
i have the v1 bushings that place the subframe at oem height.
the v2 bushings allow you to raise the subframe by not having a top lip on the bushing.
i am raising my subframe to correct the suspension geometry due to lowering the vehicle.
PBM solid subframe bushings are designed with this in mind as well.
i know i can just cut the lip off the top of the bushings but ideally i would like to just take it out and cut the lip off from the sides to allow me to push the bushing down further since there is a gap between the top and bottom pieces.
i am not up for any trades unless someone paid me a lotta money.
