hey i have a s13 that i started to relocate the wiring harness out the engine bay...and im also taking unnecessary wires, plugs, relays out.... im wonderin do i really need these relays..i have my fuel pump wired on a switch for on and off. ive been reading about the relays and found that they deal with the fuel pump comin on for 5 seconds when the key turns on.

so do i really need these 2 relays?

any info will help

thanks

The ECCS relay turns on the ECU. If you have custom ECU wiring or don't need an ECU then you don't need the ECCS relay.

The fuel pump relay is used by the ECU to control the fuel pump. If the ECU is not controlling the fuel pump or there is no ECU then check your own wiring and see if you need the fuel pump relay.

I don't know what your background is or what you're trying to do, but these are very fundamental questions for someone who is trying to do a full custom wiring job. You may want to spend some time with the FSM before you start trying to pull random wires.

ive been lookin at a few wiring diagrams. and wat i found is that the fuel pump relay isnt really necessary if you running it off a switch like i am. i just didnt know about the eccs.

i jsut finished removing all the ac wiring from my engine harness and some other things..and was curious about how important the eccs was. thanks for the info..
