Coolant temp question

If the cts is bad, will it cause to misfire in idle and when running?

Itll basically run fine when the engine is cold...the hotter it gets, the shittier itll run. If its doing that, coolant temp sensor's a good start to check.

Just to make sure, its the 2 prong sensor, not the 1 prong.

Pull the CTS and do a resistance check. You didn't say what engine this is but pull the FSM and follow their testing procedures.
