So im sure most of you have seen, ive been trying to sell my motor, because of cylinder wall damage. To my luck, and thanks to DDS, the cylinder walls are all good!! lol. So needless to say i can finally take a deep breath, and thank the auto gods someone didnt buy this motor from me.
The rebuild has started with some minor work done a while back:
Things to come:
New oem h22 pistons 87mm
Piston rings
Headgasket (stock)
Rod bearings (ACL race bearings)
Seat rails (finally)
Tub the fenders
New rear bumper
new paint job :-)

Ordering the pistons this week, then ordering the rest next week. So hopefully by the end of the month ill be up and running..Its been a long time coming.

http://i747.photobucket.com/albums/xx119/redlinesi10/IMG_0772.jpg
H22 pistons 87mm..The whole idea of this 2.4 coversion was to reduce rotational mass. By converting it to a short rod conversion, (stock rods 6.626", h22 rods 5.630 if my memory serves me correct) it reduced rotational mass by 20-25%

Thanks guys, and sorry about the pic problem, tried to copy & paste from another forum.
I cant take complete credit for this swap, it was originally built by Design Craft Fabrication of Cali, famous for quite a few things, including this car.
I bought the car as is, im not sure if anyone remembers the car was on the cover of Super Street a few years back.
Its been a bit of a headache, had problems when the car came to me, which i expected since it sat for two years.
I had leaky injectors
Cracked manifold
Fuel filter problem,
broken drive axels,
rats nest of wires behind the dash
New rear wheels,
Re positioned body kit

And the lists goes on and on
Im going to update this thread with more detailed pics of everything, ive taken so many since ive had the car (6 months)
I didnt explain in the previous post the details of the motor for those of you who are curious about it.
Ap1 s2000's are a beefy 2.0, but lacks in tq (like most hondas)
When they make it a 2.4l the tqless honda motor went out the window. This motor makes max power at 3800 rpm with the gt28rs attached. Heres a few more pics, if anyone has any questions feel free to ask, ive been waiting for months to start posting about the car, so im up for conversation
Once i start posting more ill list a parts list of the car, and give some more detailed information. Thanks again guys!
Decided to paint the block all black, with white valve cover (im a fan of the tuxedo look :-))

This was my injector situation when i got the car
http://i747.photobucket.com/albums/xx119/redlinesi10/261.jpg
Oh no!!!, could it be? Is it true? YES!!!! a HONDA motor that makes tq..on cracked ring lands------>to the haters:fawk:
http://i747.photobucket.com/albums/xx119/redlinesi10/IMG00262-20100310-0213.jpg

More to come, feel free to ask any questions, i just joined this site yesterday i think?? so im a big :newbie:

just an update: Found a piston/pin set for 31.14 a piece. Which is the cheapest i have found. Im a little concerned though about the quality.
Why does majestic honda sell only a piston for 47.97 a piece, and this site sells a piston with the pin for 31.14?
Anybody have any warning about some of these OEM parts sites?

Alright its been quite a while since an update and have quite a bit of progress.

The Motor:
Getting all the parts for this motor was a bit of a challenge because its not an f20 bottom end. Finally got it all situated and had the following parts new put in.
Pistons/Rings-H22
Rod Bearings-K24
Head gasket-OEM 10:7 Compression
Installed all new turbo gasket and seals that were needed
The motor has BC stage 3 cam on it, and will most likely remove it because of potential back flow issues against the valves. I also have a log manifold on this, which will get removed in the future, to a ram horn style manifold.

The Car:
Decided to go with Taffeta white. Its the same white found on 06+ civic/92 integra
Went with a single stage paint which i had decent success with, but some sanding is needed. Single stage is the nastiest shit i have ever sprayed, its like elmers glue coming out sticking and destroying any thing it touches. Found a new Origin rear bumper, which has been a PITA to fit. One side is on, now i just need to heat and push in the second side. PITA!. The Valve cover was also painted the color of the car with a blacked out engine bay. I decided to go with a Tuxedo/Penguin theme.

Progress as of now:
Motor was installed a few weeks back and I began having a cranking issue. Power supply was shotty to begin with, so when trying to crank the fresh motor, i was running into issues.
The wiring on this car is so beyond fucked up i cant even explain. My "fuse box" is located on my dash with pop fuses for quick fixes on track days. Not a bad idea, but the problem occured when some wiring components were changed leading to 10 different things either not being hooked up, or hooked up improper. I finally said the hell with it, and ripped my power supply out of the car. Needless to say my power supply was the lleading cause to all of this. My starter wire is WAYYYY to small. So i tanked everything out and am going to the store to buy new wire today to re-do the power grid. The battery will be re-located from the trunk to behind the passenger seat right below the kill switch.
Still have to tidy up, throw on the exhaust and ziptie loose ends. Will be a few days on progress of the wiring. I thought about going the Painless route, but have seen issues with fellow nissan owners after a few year of using them, and decided to just add my own fuse box. Will keep updates more frequent now, thanks for looking!!
I have TONS of pics, but am only posting a few.

Quick shot of the KAAZ 2 way, i think i have an input shaft seal leaking, but decided the hell with it and will fix it later. These 2 ways are sooooo fucking loud its insane.

http://i747.photobucket.com/albums/xx119/redlinesi10/IMG_1254.jpg
It came out of the car this way, and damnit its going back in the same! I know most of you are thinking wtf r u doing take off the drive shaft!! Its actually easier because the transmission is beefy on this and its impossible to fill the trans on the car
http://i747.photobucket.com/albums/xx119/redlinesi10/IMG_1244.jpg
I have no clue what happened here
http://i747.photobucket.com/albums/xx119/redlinesi10/IMG_1246.jpg
http://i747.photobucket.com/albums/xx119/redlinesi10/IMG_1251.jpg
http://i747.photobucket.com/albums/xx119/redlinesi10/IMG_1259.jpg
This is where the "mother f*** car" starting coming in. The transmission has NO room for error when going in, so the motor decided to start shifting as it when it requring some muscle to force it onto the motor mounts. All in all this took about 3 hours from start to finish, but it finally made it in!
http://i747.photobucket.com/albums/xx119/redlinesi10/IMG_1261.jpg

This is the progress as of today, the electrical tape you see is where 2 different power wires come together, how the fuck this started in the first place is beyond me.

Lol actually i used some white paint for furniture i had laying around lol...I just made sure to put it on pretty heavy in order to stop possible fading, cracking or heat wear.
I used
Rust-oleum
painter touch Ultra coverage

Be sure to clean it really well and try to hang the cover if possible when painting it. Just make sure you tape the back of the cover (where it seats to the diff housing). Be sure to get all little crevises on the diff so it turns out clean!

Its alive!

My old tuner is a fucking idiot, and needless to say i had 8 milliseconds of fuel pulse with the motor off, so everytime i would hook up the coil packs and PUT they key in (not even crank)....BANG!!!!! BANG!!!!!! and that was followed by smoke and a partial heart attack.
So my new tuner came over and wiped his map out and loaded a base map and presto! 9 months later and it runs.. Sounds the best ive heard it. Just did a warm up session and wont drive till the dyno session which will b soon!

All and all im 99.9% there, with very minor thigns left to do.

Made 280hp-240tq on load setting......Not inhertia mode, so those numbers are real world.
This is only at 9psi and on 91 octane. Ive barely even tapped into the potential of the motor. To start with, i wanted a simple reliable tune. E85 swap will take place in april and will yield WELL over 300hp-tq.......Car wont even stay straight in third gear, with boost hitting at 3500rpms, its instant power at whatever point its needed.

Heres the dyno graph. I was more off on the hp tq #'s then i thought. Not by much. Been doing back to back runs on a mustang dyno and the shops dyno on load mode and their within a 1% range. So these numbers are very acturate.

so what are the corner weights? What's the weight of the motor/turbo setup? I am going to guess its lighter than a ka24de or sr but i am not sure

F20cS13
11-03-2010, 11:52 PM
The block was designed to be lightweight. Narrow valve terain, hollowed out cam shafts. The oem stroker kit reduces the piston length by an INCH, reducing rotational mass by 25% and weight of the internals and overall motor.Car on a mustang dyno with a 200+lb tuner was 3000lb. So im assuming the car is about 2800. Motor fits better then an sr20 (width wise)

It was a LONG time coming. Finally made it to the first event Vegas Drift 21 @ Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
Car was a monster all together. Being my first drift event and not having the car 100% dialed in, I was expecting problems keeping the car controlled the way I want. Had the complete oppisite, complete success. Minus one hick up which you will see below lol :-).
I was very timid about driving the car, afraid i was going to blow the motor or have a catostrophic failure. Most of the pics you'll c im not creating tons of smoke, primarily because my wheel speed wasnt that great due to taking an easy on the motor.
This setup in this car is absolutely perfect. Sr's generally do 2nd gear around the track, the vert was tacking out in third gear through the whole track! This motor revs so f**** fast its a perfect mix for drifting.
Need to vent the valve cover. Dipstick shot up once and freaked me out beyond belief. And my current setup can already use improvement as it is. Lots of suspension tinkering to come as well. I have over 300+ photos so im only posting a few lol. Also got photos from Larry Chen of Driftfotos (he does most of Formula D's photos).Waiting on an email for those. Cant wait to see what those will look like :-)
Start of the day (0800).

Well its been a while since an update, alot has happened.

Pistons gave out back in may again after a thumping I gave it.
So with much deliberqtion i decided to stick it out and rebuild it stronger then it will ever be.

New setup:
Fully blueprinted block
Bored over. 25
H22 mahle gold series pistons
K1 technologies f24 conversion rods
Custom cometic head gasket 2mm (ended up taking out a layer)
Acl rod bearings
Arp studs
Synapse bov
AEM tru boost gauge
Supertech block guard
Right now the motor is about 90% complete waiting on a few small parts

This is what I found when taking everything apart
Oil combustion had been occurring for some time

The current setup. Those are one time raced pistins that have been custom milled, that's why they look a little odd

Finally got this all wrapped up.
Long day at the shop ended up going very well.
Special thanks to the guys over at DDS Performance of Las Vegas. Bigger thinks to the mad scientist Kyle Leblanc for the lengthy hours spent building and tuning this car. Thanks guys!
Here are the results

Outside Temp was 45 degrees at 2500+ft (Vegas)

WHP-402.3
WTQ-360.3
Boost 12psi on a gt2860rs
Rc1000cc
e85 :-)

Tiny turbo was maxing out so we called it a day. I dont think I will ever upgrade just because the power band is insane on this, and the tq is exactly how it needs to be.....

I know, I was piseed to find out my photobucket account just was deleted one day. I'm thinking of making a new one and putting the pics back on, and reorganizing it.
I just got the car home today and it needs alot of tidying up so I will be posting more pics. I gained alot of inspiration from your build for this so I might be PM you soon:-) thanks for the comments:-)
