So I'm runnin a stock rb20 in my s13 just really basic mods fmic and 3in catback, and I'm running NGK bcpr6es-11 spark plugs gapped down to 0.8, like every post I have read says to do, and I'm getting a spark blow out under any sort of boost. Should I try running a step colder like 7's? or Can any of you cats running RB's suggest another spark plug to use, muchos muchos gracias, I want my car running like when I first did the swap! Help me out fellas thanks.

i use NGK bkr7e plugs. but the plugs that you have should be fine for what your car has.

but the spark blowout under boost doesn't necessarily mean that its your spark plugs. could be old worn out coil packs.

yeah but it generally happens when the car is warm thats why i think I should run a step colder and all of my coil packs are firing.

7's should be fine. Check all your wiring (maf, igniter, etc) and make sure nothing is coming loose. Also, are you having blowby issues? Check your maf/air filter/inlet pipe to fimic/turbo and see. My friend had issues similar to this and it ended up being excessive oil blowby which was messing with his maf. Catch can should help with this. We swapped his turbo though cuz it also had some shaft play and everything has been fine since then. Just an idea.

Coil packs are failing. It worsens as the engine bay gets hotter, eh? Upgrade to LSx coils. Plugs won't help unless you reallly gap them down tight.

BTW colder plugs won't help this situation.

I checked and replaced the failing coil packs, no boost leaks all sensors are running as they should, It runs fine out of boost no misses or anything, I swear its gotta be my plugs, and I figure I shouldn't need to upgrade to ls or splitfire coils cause I'm running stock without the coil pack cover, and I want to sell it after I fix this problem, so can anyone think of a cheap suitable fix for this problem? FUCK RB's Touchy ass motors god dammit!

gap should be .028"

make sure the motor has 2 grounds, one good one on the block and one good one on the head.

do it! :D
