yo yo yo, wat it do vanilla faces

so i got my side skirts today and i was wondering what a good way to mount would be without drilling holes into the body, because more holes = more rust. So, i don't really want zipties, not too fond of the whole drift-esque style, but i do want something that would be easier to come off and back on. Any ideas???????? I would use 3m dub-tape as a back up for more support, but is that enough just to do it all? i feel like after rain and hitting speed bumps, it would fall off

Actually no they don't fall off. I'm using the 3M red mounting tape for trims and it's holding.
Surfaces cleaned properly and I let it set for a few hours with the support of some painter's tape.
It's been over a year or winter/rain and it hasn't moved.

If you want it the easiest to get on/off use Zuse fasteners, but you will need a few holes for that. If a body shop paints them for you they should be able to paint over the holes and help avoid rust. Or you can buy some undercoating material and put a lite coat on yourself.

yeah please don't use Dzus fasteners or latch style fasteners on the side skirts or any trim pieces for that matter.

I hope you bought quality side skirts, I was hoping to be able to use 3m tape but I cheaped out now I've got screws holding it in.

You can fabricate top and bottom brackets just like ones on JDM side skirts.

You could use some Nutserts. You will have to drill some holes. Nutserts are like rivets, but these have threads on the inside so whatever it is your using it on can be removed.

duck tape and chewing gum!!

or you can just screw in the ends paint primer and that would take care of rust. remember its aftermarket. or oem maybe. but the point is they need to go on one way or another. slap them on!!! regardless!

well first thing first is did you get some knock off skirts or some good quality fitment stuff? If you got something decent then you shouldnt have to do so much to get them on there with just 3M double sided tape and a couple of screws. Now if you got some wack knock off stuff with shitty fitment then youll be having some fun getting them to go on right.

Easy 3M double sided tape and 2 screws on the front and 2 screws on the rear on each skirt. With just those 4 screws and the tape you should be all good. Good luck

its vertex skirts, so im almost 100% positive it should fit as perfect as original. i've waited since mid-april for my kit to come in, and so it better fit fucking perfect.

anyways, im honestly not quite fond of the rivet/screw look. I hate over fenders for the rears, so i don't want it on the skirts. And considering my 240sx body has zero rust, except little parts like exhaust-hanger bracket and trans-exhaust bracket, i don't want to go molesting the body and messing up a rust-free 240sx. they are quite rare from what i hear ;)

so 3m tape should hold good? If i ever want to remove it, is it going to fuck up the paint?and also lets say i hit a pothole, side skirt hits street - i wont have to worry about losing it because of the tape? thats my main concern, chicago has plenty of speed bumps and pot holes, i don't wanna to have to check my sides every time i hit one in case i drop a skirt

The grey 3M double sided tape is plenty to bond the skirts to your car without ruining the paint. It will hold as long as you prep the surfaces right.

There's other way to bond the skirts onto your car but it'll be so strong that your skirt would likely to shatter before the adhesive fails. Since you want to preserve your paint this is then a no go.

BMW also sells a affordable panel adhesive that does not require grinding down the paint to the metal. They use it to mount spoiler as well as some outside body panels/skirts. Google is your friend on this one. I found it a while ago and bookmarked it on my computer at home.

I'll agree with the RED 3M tape. It's what I used on mine... Shit works great. They've been on for a year+ with no problems. Nor do I have to deal with holes/rust.
