So im looking into buying a 240 with an SR swap. I went and test drove a 93 hatch the other day, that was hardly driveable. There were 2 main and obvious concerns i had.

1. While applying the brakes the pedal would start off firm and high... but then lose nearly all pressure and quickly fad to the floor. The kid said if you pumped the brakes it wouldnt do that.

I looked for leaked at at the calipers and couldnt find any. Could it be a problem of simply needing the brakes bled because of air in the system or is it more than likely the master cylinder going bad?

2. The second problem had to do with the clutch. I started the test drive with a stall test in which the car passed. So the clutch it self seemed like it was in working order. With that said as i drove the car the clutch pedal would fall to the floor all by itself and stay there. Id have to lift it up with my foot anytime i needed to engage the clutch. Any ideas as to what this could be?

My only guess is again, to bleed the slave or, it needs a new slave? But im honestly clueless.

why waste your time buying a vehicle w/ mechanical issues already?
tell the guy to get back to you when he fixes his ride..

Slave is dying, had the same issue. Cheap and easy fix. replace and bleed new slave and good to go.

Def. bleed the lines first! If that does not solve the problem then, work on replacing the slave

this kid obviously doesnt know wat hes doin so make sure u also do a compression and leak down test to check the actual integrity of the motor...how much is he sellin the 240 for and hows the interior and exterior?
if hes askin for a really low price tand the motor and interior/exterior is good then i say get it bc bmc and csc are cheap little parts
o and while ur at it check everything under the hood to see if anything is hooked up in a really ghetto way

Yeah, because everyone has time to pump the brakes in an emergency situation.

But it sounds like it is either your brake master cylinder or your lines have air in them.
