So I was driving today when my maf and coolant temp sensor wires were ripped after contact with the water pump pulley.. While it was happening I noticed my battery voltage fluctuate a bit then suddenly shoot down to like 9.0V or so before I shut it off.. I pulled over and fixed the wires, but now my alternator only charges up to like 13v... On the way home on the highway, the battery voltage fluctuated between 12.6V and 13V at a steady speed.. Is my alternator fried due to trying to provide more current than it could when the wires shorted?
I dont have a definitive answer if the wires getting ripped caused any detrimental damage to your alternator. First make sure your Voltage gauge is accurate and the state of your alternator before. Was it new , old. ? Check all wiring and test the alternator. At least 13.8 and + is good

Yeah, before this incident my voltage was always between 14.4 and 13.9 and held steady on the highway... I'll try getting the alternator tested later today... I really hope it's the problem...
