First of dont flame me guys.. I was told you guys are highly knowledagable when it comes to turbos. I drive a nissan maxima v6 equipped with a full t4 turbo..
.70 a/r cold side and . 68 a/r hot side..
Turbo 3# has just went on me.. They all die the same way and make the same high pitched whining noise while putting out no boost...
I went for a quick spin on the highway.. Boosted the car in 3rd gear caught 8.5 pounds then a coupler blew off near the ground and i heard the whine... I knew what it was so I didn't boost the car all the way home. I put back on the coupler, crossed my fingers and went for a drive, I caught 6.5 pounds WOT and knew i was screwed..
Boosted the car again, caught no boost and the whine is now extremely loud..
Any ideas before i give up guys?
On the last two turbos i ran a restrictor, this time no restrictor as i thought that was the problem.. I also made sure that the drain was no longer on a weird slope... I did however take off the feed line and pour oil into the turbo and it took a while to go down..(is that a major problem)?

Who makes the turbo?

Do you have oil coming out either of the housings? Blue smoke on boost?
How do the wheels look? Could be FOD on the compressor housing or bits of piston flying through the turbine housing.

Thats crazy,Looks like its only oil feed so make sure you got plenty of oil comming out of the drain line and nothings plugged,Hows your oil pressure?I'm pretty sure this is a lubrication deal thats killing your turbo's,Make sure no gunk or debris clogged up your feed or drain lines. My friend had the same situation when there was somthing abstructing and the turbo made a terrable whine.

Who makes the turbo?
1st turbo was recently rebuilt garret
2nd turbo was master power t70
3rd turbo was a godspeed t 62

No blue smoke on boost, no oil out either housing that i know of, and no way to check oil pressure.. But definately will have oil pressure gauge installed on next turbo installation and oil drain redone..

The wheels have just began rubbing against the housing..

That is what i must check the feed line is getting oil because I removed it and put it in a oil bottle and revved the car and it spit oil out like hell.. Im guessing its the drain and not the feed..

try putting a little oil into the turbo oil inlet and watch the drain line. it should drain out very quickly and without obstruction. Also, excessive crankcase pressures could cause the oil to not drain from the turbo as quickly as it should.

Also is your feed the propper diameter for the turbo?

yes,But I dont get how all 3 turbos would have this problem?May just be a drain line issue,Since drain is all done by gravity make sure it has no kinks and just a straite path to the pan.
Not sure if this would effect it but would having it tapped to low in the pan "below the oil level" cause it to drain real slow making it not cool the turbo kinda like a plugged radiator?Just a theory.
Buy a NEW Garrett turbo, bet it lasts for years and years.
I've seen some shady rebuilts on old turbos, since it does require quite a bit of work, and typically shops take "short cuts" which mean the turbo lasts for a while but eventually beats itself to death.
Masterpower is hit or miss from what I've seen, and Godspeed turbos are a lot of miss.

how big is the drain line?

My drain line is 10 AN and my feed is 4 AN.. I have my return going to the upper oil pan..

We can sit here and speculate about what might have happened to your turbos but until you pull these dead turbos apart and post up some pics no one is going to be able to do anything more than speculate. I'm judging by the constant blowing of couplers that corners have been cut on this build so it wouldn't surprise me at all if there were a reliablility issue resulting from just that.
Another thing to try, have you verified you have pressure in the feed line? If you prime the oil system does oil come out your feed line?
What size restrictor were you running? Usually journal bearing turbos don't need restrictors at all.

Are you sure turbo it isn't just your bolts holding the turbo to the manifold have that have come loose...?

Very understandable non the less the turbo currently on the car will be disected soon.. The first two turbos had a restrictor on it, this last one hasnt, but had a slite leak into the turbo, no more leak but now the turbo is smoking severely..

ill check, not to be a noob but wat are you getting at?

turbine inlet flange bolts, when those bolts come loose they make a high pitch because gases will flow between the flange, check those bolts/nuts. check all your exhaust bolts/nuts before the turbo

Get better turbos...if you get a ballbearing turbo, run a restrictor. If its journal bearing, ditch the restrictor.
