First of all car is a 240sx coupe s13 with a s14 sr, 555cc injectors with suitable ecu tune and gt2860.

To check ignition timing, you got to unplug the tps and then check the timing. Problem is when I unplug the tps the rpm won't go under 1400, when the tps is plug it stays solid at 800 rpm all the time. So I can't check the timing... (car is at normal working temperature when this happens)

Second problem is really strange. When I unplug the tps and let the engine run for a minute or two (time to try to let the rpm go down) the engine starts to sound like a crank bearing is dead, but as soon as I plug the tps i runs smootly !

Thanks if you can help.

Phil

did you try lowering the rpm by IACV after taking off the tps?

i don't understand why you even have to unplug the TPS to check timing

Yea and u have to rev it above xrpm to get in timing mode as well or somehimg.

There is a screw on the front side of the iacv. Just tighten/loosen to get the rpm where u want it

Ok

But do you have any idea why is the idle so different between tps on and tps off ?

no idea. maybe cause the IACV is set too high to begin with?
