I was just curious what batteries are u all runing on ur cars. If u deft what's the best battery. I've heard good things about the optima redtop but it's close to 200 bucks.

i personally have an optima red top. didn't cost 200. close to around 150 new on amazon. just gotta wait for it.

i got a lawnmower battery from walmart.

less than $30 bucks. half the size of a miata battery. 360cca.

no problems since i installed it 4 months ago.

Detka battery... they make those expensive lightweight Braille batteries

I think they are like $60-80 bucks. Terminals were a few bucks so that it'll work with a car. I got the info from a Porsche forum, and I had an extra Detka from my Buell.

optima red is a piece of shit. Its known to die for no reason. I had experiences, twice, with this piece of shit, lost ton of money and it's heavy as hell. If you want some good battery, go for Odyssey 545 or Stinger.

indeed Optima is all hype. Ive actually had some pretty damn good luck with my Die-hard(s) in both my 240 and G, but my fiance cant get 18 months out of his Optima.

always with the same dumbfounded look at autozone with the "this never happens" statement after.

PS that Detka battery is very nice looking, what are they designed for?

all batteries are made by one of three companies exide, deka or interstate. anything else is just a version of type from them with the exception of the odyssey battery. the lawn mower batteries are lightweight and work but not as well as a car battery. 300ish cca's is enough to start a car but once they start to dip it wont be strong enough to start a car. my optima redtop put out 1150cca and they last forever. i got a good deal with my discount when i worked selling batteries. the best that you can possibly is the odyssey car battery but thats really pricey. the best reasonable option is the optima but deka also makes a gell type car battery thats the xtreme x2, it tests very similar to an optima and costs less. iirc the x2 is exclusive to batteries plus locations but im not positive.

Yes same with me. 5 Years not really any problems. I can always rely on my optima. But I heard that they aren't made in the same place as they were 5 years ago and now they aren't so good. All in all I would go with a slim battery/light when it is time for me to retire my optima. I heard miata are small. I was going to try that lawn mower battery ha ha glad to see it worked!

The stereotypical walmart battery... I've had it sit in a car for almost a year with no charger or battery tender attached and it cranked it for 30+ seconds till the car started (mechanical fuel pump) with no problems at all. Only cost about 60 bucks for a new one

I had an Optima red-top back when I lived in Phoenix. The Phoenix heat just kills regular batteries, you're lucky to get 3 years out of a standard battery. My redtop lasted probably a good 6 years.

i live in texas its kinda hot almost all the time..lol..
