Well heres the story, I started cleaning up my engine bay wire harness on my sr20det, and of course I messed some wires up along the way. Cleaned up wires and plugged everything back in and
1. I received no power to ecu #62 (red light from ecu didn't turn on)
2. smelled burning coming from my ecu #62 and found this

3. I was told it was most likely coming from the large gray plug (8 pin) next to the battery.
4. here is the diagram I have made of where the wiring goes from the large gray plug (8 pin)

Like I said, that's a common problem with SR20 ECU's with sub-par wiring... it fries one of the big copper traces, but it is repairable, I've done a bunch.

As far as troubleshooting that big grey connector (F8 on the engine side, E9 on the chassis side), all you need to do is look at the other side and double-check that the wire colors match. Here's the S13 ECU power diagram from the FSM (the pins on the ECU will be wrong since they're for a KA) - it tells you each power wire's function:

To double-check that your chassis is providing the correct voltage in the correct condition on the correct pins, check those plugs using a multimeter with the harness unplugged. Once they check out, you should feel fine about plugging your new harness with your fixed ECU (or a new ECU) into it.

If you're wondering whether the harness has bad connections inside, you can always do a pin-to-pin checklist (touch every pin to every pin) but that's extremely time consuming. I usually just check the wires that are used in the swap, and the only ones which would cause you any problems are the above power wires.

ok I don't really think this is what you were talking about but il try anyways I haven't had any luck searching, I just installed a chasebays harness onto my redtop sr, and the two chassis connectors that are near the battery the brown and grey ones, well first the brown one was so loose when plugged in that the car would barely idle and that's power to the fuelpump I belive so I just cut the plugs off and spiced those wires straight together, but now the grey plug when plugged in correctly if I touch or jiggle the wires at all mainly coming from the chasebays side the car will stumble or shut off completely, and besides that my car runs very rich and constantly pops, at idle if I try to blip the throttle it just gargles and wants to die any ideas?
