My friend ordered a new right half shaft for his S13 and realized when we were installing it that it isn't the right part. The inner flange which mates to the output shaft on the diff has a smaller bolt pattern, and it doesn't have the 3 tabs. It appears to be the correct length and the splined end does fit the hub.

The former owner of the car mumbled something about the differential, so its possible that he has a nonstandard diff, but were thinking its just the wrong shaft.

The one on the left is off the car, the new one is on the right.

Is it just the wrong part? What could it be?

it definitely looks like the wrong part basing off of width. Where did you order it from?

Why does it matter?

Yeah its the wrong part, Take it back and tell them they fucked up and get the right part

It matters because if he DOES have a different diff than stock, getting another new part wouldn't help us. But thanks, I guess we can do that with confidance.

I asked what it is actually because even though it isnt an S13 shaft, it appears to still have all the components of an S13 shaft that I'd need for my helical R200 swap in my S30. So this can be the first components of my new custom S30 shafts I guess... Still would like to know WTF it is.

- Oh and we would just take it right back and complain but he actually bought it more than a year ago.
